I remember the Arantxa Anna match with such a huge cheering squad for Anna.

martina was simply flawless against Seles in the quarterfinal, I think she even hit an ace on matchpoint or something

I also remmebr Venus Pierce match, not the best of quality, but it was a lot of fun to watch!! (can anyone remember the victory dance which casued quite a stir at that time and have people start accusing Venus of arrogant? :p) Not to mention lindsay was simply devastating in this match, it will be interesting whether she can do the same in this tourney

98 was a good year for tennis and 97, I miss that whole generation, i like the generation now but i mean, remember all the different styles and personalities, the liitle assasin, jana navotna, her wins and loses all so emotional, nathalie tuaziat being a bitch, Capriati and maleeva working on their comebacks, iva still doing well, no to mention anna, steffi, domi, irina spirlea who just the year before nearly fought with venus, natasha, sabine, and martina hingis and anna K aww i miss those girls and not to mention ASV and monica man and iva and just so many players, i am sad tennis has changed so much to think i was still a teenager than.... its been so long.

It gets worse. I just had the awful thought that I am 6 years older than when I last thought about it.

I watched this. It was a great US OPEN. Lindsay was better
back then, so was Venus. LD didnt' drop serve nor get chokey,
Venus had more fire in her, and charged every shot.

I remember MJ Fernandez getting a HUGE break when her shot hit the tape and went right over Fusai's head in that final set tiebreak.

Great Open that year.
