From what I understand, the twin lights will only be on display until April. By which time, they will be replaced by a permanent memorial.
I do agree that these lights cannot replace the lives that were lost that day. However, I have a friend who was in the building on 9-11. He attended last night's service and said that it helped him to cope with his own feelings. So maybe this memorial service can be of some comfort to those who lost loved ones on that terrible day.

The beams will be on display for 32 days and shoot up to over 10,000 feet in the air, totalling 2 miles.
