Well, Dokic is out of IW. Another upset, I'm starting to really believe that Miss Cleo has put a spell over IW.:D I wonder who's next? I thought Dokic would get a little farther, this was a great opportunity for her.

Oh well, I'm looking for my old records. I'm gonna find that song,
"Another one bites the dust". I wonder who will be in the finals. My guess is the 2 big M's will be their at the end. IW usually excites me, but this year since everyone is not playing it's pretty boring.:p

Injured Dokic Upset By Kremer

Leg injuries forced Jelena Dokic out of the Pacific Life Open Sunday, with the No. 5 seed unable to put up much of an effort during her 6-3, 6-0 loss to Anne Kremer. With her right leg bandaged and her left leg strained, Dokic admited she played at less than 50 percent of her ability during the 57-minute match.

The 18-year-old Yugoslavian came into the event with a muscle strain in her quad. And during her second-round match on Saturday, she hurt her other leg, but has yet to determine the nature of the injury. "I had trouble practicing this morning; it was really hurting," she said. "But it got a little bit better. I thought, if I get out there, it gets warm, it might feel better. But it didn't. it made it worse."

Dokic said the pain grew worse as the match went on, preventing her from serving or hitting with any type of consistency. Dokic tossed in five double faults, made 38 unforced errrors and executed only 55 percent of her first serves. The teen-ager still hopes to play at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Miami, but will take some time off to recover.

"I still have some time," she said. "It's just one of those things that I really now have to look after. I really don't want it to ruin any more tournaments and the rest of the year. It's just real disappointing that it's happened so early in the year. There's still so much to play."

Earlier on Sunday, Justine Henin cruised to the fourth round with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Adriana Serra Zanetti. With Kim Clijsters and Dokic out of the tournament, Henin now is regarded the favorite to advance to this year's final. "It's a big opportunity," Henin said. "A lot of tough players are here in the tournament, and you have to play good tennis if you want to beat them. But if I have the possibility to go for sure to the final, and I will try to take it."

Lisa Raymond and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario also advanced to the fourth round on Sunday.

Jelena's Interview

March 10, 2002

PACIFIC LIFE OPEN

Indian Wells, California

A. KREMER/J. Dokic

6-3, 6-0

An interview with:

JELENA DOKIC

MODERATOR: Questions for Jelena.

Q. Were you experiencing problems with your leg out there today?

JELENA DOKIC: Yeah. I hurt my other leg yesterday, and I was -- I wasn't even 50%. You know, I wanted to try, you know, see how it went. You know, as I went further into the match, it got worse.

But, you know, I'm not disappointed. I tried my best. You know, it's just one of those things that I didn't have control over.

Q. You said you wanted to try. Was there any thought about not playing the match?

JELENA DOKIC: Yeah, you know, I had trouble practicing this morning. You know, it was really hurting. But it got a little bit better. I thought, if I get out there, it gets warm, it might feel better. It didn't, it made it worse.

You know, you never know how it is until you start playing. So, you know, but it definitely wasn't good enough to, you know, be able to compete.

Q. You said you hurt the other leg. This is not the leg?

JELENA DOKIC: Yeah.

Q. What's the problem?

JELENA DOKIC: I don't know. We don't know yet.

Q. Is it physically painful?

JELENA DOKIC: Yeah, it is. It's really uncomfortable. You know, I'm really disappointed, you know, now it's the other leg. You know, I really never had any injuries. But hopefully it will get better.

Q. Is this something that happened in your last match?

JELENA DOKIC: Yeah, it happened yesterday in the third set, just like the other leg. I did feel it. It gradually got worse as I came off the court. It's just been getting worse and worse since yesterday.

Q. Was it a situation that you were possibly favoring the injured leg, hurt the other one?

JELENA DOKIC: No, I don't think so, because the other leg feels fine. You know, it's a hundred percent, and I felt really good on it.

I think it's just, you know, another thing that just happened. You know, I wasn't compensating to try and save my other leg - that definitely wasn't it. You know, I think it was just the match yesterday.

Q. Was this a muscle pull or turned ankle?

JELENA DOKIC: Strain, muscle strain.

Q. Lower leg? Calf?

JELENA DOKIC: Quad.

Q. Is it tough going back-to-back matches in a tournament like this on this kind of surface for you?

JELENA DOKIC: You know, if you feel good and you're not injured, I don't think so. But when you're injured, it makes a big difference. I think you get used to playing back-to-back at some of the tournaments. You know, I don't think that's a problem for me. But I think when you're injured, you know, it makes a big difference.

Q. Have you seen a doctor or the trainer or anybody?

JELENA DOKIC: No.

Q. Are you scheduled to go to Miami, I assume?

JELENA DOKIC: Yes.

Q. Is that somewhat in question until you find out what happens?

JELENA DOKIC: It could be. I don't know. Hopefully not. It shouldn't be because I still have some time. You know, it's just one of those things that I really now have to look after. You know, I really don't want it to ruin any more tournaments and the rest of the year. It's just real disappointing that it's happened so early in the year. There's still so much to play.

I just have to be really careful

Joao, just scratch off one name from your list. You've got it buddy.
Well, now we can add Schett, and Dementieva to the victims list.

Harloo sings:
Dun Dun Dun "Another One Bites the Dust!"(harloo is bobbing his head) Another One Bites the Dust!!! :D

Too bad for Dokic and the injury. Another top player out. Who's next? Um I say Arantxa. No pun intended, just a prediction.

Tennis is tennis - its a shame so many top players have lost or aren't there - but its a perfect opportunity for someone else to shine and for me to learn about some other players for once.

I'm enjoying it :)

Will the 2 big M's make it to the semis. My guess is yes, and one of them will win this tourney.
