Which Country do the best players come from?

I think the best Players come from the US.I think about half of the top 10 are Americans.Whats your opinion?

The US has the most players on the tour, and 5 in the top 10, and 7 I think altogether in the top 20.

Still, 3 out of top 5 seals the deal. US is the best.

Right now, if you looked at it as "top 10 players per head of population", you would have to say Belgium, without a doubt. Possibly France second, or maybe USA.

Of course, if you are just looking at sheer numbers then it's clearly the USA, but with so many people, resources and tournaments over there so it should be. (Please note that I'm not trying to take away from American success, which I have great respect for - I'm just stating a fact.)

Hmm not too sure if the best players COME from USA

but they certainly all seem to LIVE or have houses in Florida USA

Jelena Dokic , Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova, Lindsay Davenport, Venus and Serena Williams, Andy Roddick, Taylor Dent, Mary Pierce, Monica Seles and Jennifer Capriati for starters.

Actually, it does go through cycles. But it seems that the USA and Australia have the best programs in place for developing young talent. Here in Canada, our junior tennis program is practically non existent!

I'm not going to argue that the USA has the most top players, because it actually has.

But, I'm just going to put a nice little info down. USA has 250 million people, and a lot of money (good for you, or rather us since I'm in the States now;)); China and India each have more then a billion people, but have practically no money at all. Croatia on the other hand (heh guess where I'm from:) ) has 4.5 million people (half the New York), and very little money. We still have Goran, Iva, Silvija, Mirjana, Ivan... If you look at some other sports, you'll see the same tendency. :angel:

Best juniors come from Russia, best pros used to come from USA. But can you name a US teenager who looks a Top 10 prospect? Not at the moment. Seles, Davenport and Capriati will probably be a force for another couple of years. And after that? I don't know..

doesn't matter ;) the tour wouldn't be the same without any of them.

The best come from USA. Most of the top 100 are Americans. I wish Australia made more good players.

Look at the improvement in top 100 players. They have about 8 and in the mens about 5. About 3-4 year ago they had about 2. Tennis is growing heeps in Italy, they just need to get it down South!

Though i do agree their are a lot of russians and most of them are teenagers so thayve still got time to move up the rankings.

The former Czechoslovakia has produced the best tennis players. It's just that most of them have defected and represented other countries.

well, by my concept of what a good player is, they certainly don't come from USA.

The hardest hitters come from USA and that, with majority of hardcourts in the tour, make them win more than others.

However, for me it's more important where the most technically capable players come from.

Belgium is impressive with Kim and Justine which such a tiny population, however, it's to be seen if they are two off or there will be a future for Belgian tennis after Kim and Justine.

I would have to say, the countries that have produced the most talented players are Czech Republic/Slovakia: Martina Navratilova, Jana Novotna, Helena Sukova, Martina Hingis, Hanna Mandlikova. Maybe they didn't produce the most winners, but certainly is the country that produced the best visual pleasure.

As of now, if you did any sort of calculation with rankings vs. population you would find that Luxembourg would be the number 1 country (even better ratio than Belgium).
