Great win Chanda :D I was very concerned that Anna's game would be tiring on the knee (and shoulder http://media.ign.com/boardfaces/20.gif), but apparently, you handled it well :D:bigwave::D

Rubin Makes Short Work of Fourteenth Seed
While the air grew chilly on Stadium Court on Monday night at the La Costa Resort and Spa, Chanda Rubin’s game heated up.

In the last match of the night session, Rubin easily defeated 14th seeded Anna Smashnova-Pistolesi of Israel, 6-0, 6-3 in 53 minutes in a first-round Acura Classic match.

With the temperature dropping in Carlsbad, Rubin won the first set at love in 20 minutes and would go on to build a 4-2 lead in the second set.

The American, who is ranked 23 in the world, went on to break Smashnova-Pistolesi at 5-3 to seal the match.

Rubin advances to the second round where she will play Croatia’s Jelena Kostanic.

Rubin is making her 10th Acura Classic appearance. Her best result was a quarterfinal finish last year.
Rubin now leads Smashnova-Pistolesi 6-2 in career head-to-head meetings.
Rubin improves her 2004 match record to 11-6.
Rubin is a three-time quarterfinalist at Roland Garros.
Smashnova-Pistolesi was making her second Acura Classic appearance. She was a quarterfinalist in 2002.
Smashnova-Pistolesi is ranked 17 in the world.
Smashnova-Pistolesi has won nine career WTA Tour singles titles.
Smashnova-Pistolesi’s 2004 match record falls to 26-18.

K. Well I'm the ideal Chanda fan and you should all be just like me. K? K. Thanks.

from what i have seen you are far from in ideal fan. you always try to shove your opinions down other people's throat and attack those who think rubin might lose. i remember you said something about irvin a couple of weeks ago and chanda was lucky to beat her. you said the same things about dementieva etc.

i have seen many better chanda fans like brian, equisimax, switz, and i'm sure there are others.

Way to go Chanda! :clap2: :D Nice looking draw, so keep up the good play!

I'm hopeful that with a few good results and a deep run at the USO, Chanda will earn enough points to at least stay in the top 20 by year's end. It will be tough, but I know she can do it. It's obvious Chanda still has the game to be a top player... It's too bad we can't see what this year would have been like without the knee injury.

GO Chanda! :worship:

i don't doubt your dedication to chanda, i question the way you go about it. if you want to be such an aggressive poster you can't have a cry when people bite back.
