Are either of the Inoue's in the draw related to Etsuko Inoue? She used to be the only Top 50 Japanese woman a long time ago (80's, I think). I remember I saw Steffi beat her in the first round of the U.S. Open, and Etsuko impressed me with her scrambling (I think Graf won 6-3, 6-2)... And I wonder what Kimiko Date is doing these days, and also Naoko Sawamatsu too.

Best of luck to Maiko Inoue, I hope she wins the title. Good luck also to Haruka and Shiho.

Tommy, nice of you to remember Etsuko. She was ranked as high as the 20s, and is also the current Fed Cup Captain. Now goes by the surname of Kaneshiro. However, Haruka and Maiko aren't related to her. Inoue is pretty common.

Wally just in case you didn't know. This tourney is a domestic one and no points are awarded. ;)

It's running the same time as the men's challenger.
