Pratt is a high ranked doubles player so obviously she was going to get a berth...as for Sam, she is no.3 in singles, and since she missed out on singles, why not give her a spot in doubles? She deserves it :)

McShea didnt qualify for Olympics, she hadnt played Fed Cup previous to the last tie.

Wayne Arthurs will play both doubles and singles at the Athens Olympics tennis event, starting Sunday.

Arthurs will replace Dutchman Martin Verkerk, who was forced to withdraw with a chest muscle injury, organisers said.

The Australian is also competing in the doubles with 22 time Grand Slam doubles winner Todd Woodbridge, who won gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics with Mark Woodforde, and is the reigning Wimbledon men's doubles champion.

But good luck to him.Really? I like watching Wayne play. You are guaranteed a close match if nothing else. He will more often than not win his serve and gets so frustrated when he can't break.. he wears his heart on his sleeve.

Go Stosur, great experience for her as she might be our top player come next Olympics, so for her to get a chance at this Olympics is fantastic for her.

We've certainly been lucky to get Stosur and Wayno into the singles draws, I never thought they were a chance. Hope they can win a round or so!

I think Alicia/Rennae will win their first match, but am predicting Nicole/Sam will lose to the Italians.

Alicia has a strong chance against Elena D, Nicole also against Myriam (her sometime doubles partner), and who knows with Sam against a rusty Chanda, but I strongly doubt it.

Rubin hasnt played Stosur.


All matches are winnable, Rubin has been very rusty, Dementieva will be a tough one for Molik, Pratts could go either way depending which game Myriam brings!

I Agree! I think his serve is AMAZING! God I'd love to have it!! It's just so fluent and he makes it look effortless. Although his matches can be so frustrating and heart wrenching when they are really close (as is often the case!)

Everytime mark hits a 2nd serve it scares the fuck out of me :scared: its exaclty the same action as his first serve :unsure:

Last week I asked Rennae why she and Molik hadn't played to together prior to the Games ........ and she said........."Alicia and I have not played any tournaments because it just hasn't fit into our schedules, plus we have had commitments to others, we were going to possibly play this week, but I chose to have a little rest instead. We have played enough together in Fed Cup to know each others games and we are such good friends that communication on the court will be easy"........
