Canada sucks, and I didn't get coverage of this.

But live scoring was still intense. :p

The crowd was so sparse; but it was still at a high level.
You know Meg, she's rather intense too. Good solid match.
A couple of loose shots; but Meg didn't slow the pace down.

I'm really curious to see if Maggie will try an all court
no-pace, chip/charge, everything but the kitchen sink type
match against Sprem. The pace thing isn't going to work
against her unless your someone like Kimmy that doesn't
miss any returns.

Now against Maleeva. It will be closer as on clay cuz it was the time as Maggie slumped. Will be a good match I think.

although there were two tie-breaks, from what i've seen of it..karolina was in control of the match...they also mentioned that she asked for a trainor at the start of the second set coz she feels like fainting or something...i guess it wasnt that serious coz she won the tie break pretty easily and she was still hitting hard and moving well ;)

weird match - Shaughnessy served well, but could not stay in the rallies at all...

I wonder, Allen Wilkens said that, right? I didn't see any trainer-
perhaps he was mistaken. It's possible you know, the man is

Congratulations to Sprem!

It's so wild that she won another match with 2 tiebreakers!

She is the Tiebreak QUEEN!!!!

Congrats Sprem, I flicked it over and saw the odd point, but i was maninly watching the capster.

She really is the queen of tie-breaks - 4 IN A ROW!!

Statistics never tell the truth! This was a bad match- it was so hit and miss from both girls! i don't think there was a 5 stroke rally in that match.

I saw sprem play for the first time today and her grounstrokes and returns are pretty big but that serve is so attackable! Especially the 2nd serve- megann was just teeing up on it time after time.

You're like the 5th person I've heard call her the "queen of tiebreaks", including myself.

We should just start calling her "THE QUEEN" for short!

Go Karolina!

I only watched the last 10 minutes or so, which weren't that good. Karolina served for the match at 6-5 and had a mini-choke (no first serve in), but recovered, and won the tie-break without a problem. Meghann missed quite a few easy balls too.

go,Karolina!!
:bounce:

I don't know why, but she seems to have trouble leading and finishing the set/match. That was the case in her match against Venus (but, that was understandable) and it happened again today (+ it happened in couple of more matches before, as well). Meghan served pretty well (11 aces!), but Karolina didn't do what she had to in most of those brake point chances.
I hope she gets more focused against Maleeva, a match she should win.
However, looking only at statistics she was not that bad- excl.service she had 29 winners to Maghan's only 10.

Don't want to sound negative, I just want her to do well, now that she's in a good shape.

Good win,Karolina! Keep it going! :wavey:

Actually someone did call for a trainer. Croatian commentator concluded that Meghann did, but it was pretty obvious it was Karolina who called one. The thing that pissed me off is that the trainer never came. Maybe Karolina withdrew her request later on, but I did not see that.

The match was ok. I had brilliant flashes, and then some lousy patches. Pretty streaky throughout, which actually worries me a bit. That and the fact that Karolina has trouble closing out the matches. That will hopefully come in time, though.

Still, I think Karolina will pull through in the next round.

I forgot to mention that Karolina had much more trouble with Meghann's serve then with Venus'. I wonder why. I didn't really concentrate on the placement of Venus' serve in the last match, so I don't remember how it was, but could that be it?

Hmm...Sprem's fastest serve was faster than Shuaghnessy's, and her average was only 1 mph slower than hers. Second serve was 2 mph difference. :o

I'll only say one thing: as a neutral tennis follower, I don't like it when a player starts winning more than their fair share of tie-breaks off other players. Four in a row is pushing the limit.

Sounds like this was a good match. More winners than errors from both is a good sign. I didn't expect Meg to be this tough after that match with Vives (c'mon Meg, 10-8? ), but when she's serving well, she's tough to beat. Hopefully Meg can get back to at least the top 25, where IMO her ranking definitely belongs :D . And Karolina... if she stays consistent on her groundstrokes, who knows what's in store for her in the future :lick: :worship: .
