The girl's singles final went to Angelique Widjaja of Indonesia, who beat Marat Safin's sister Dinara Safina 6-4 0-6 7-5.

The match had begun on Saturday, but rain intervened with Widjaja, the number eight seed, 3-2 behind.

Widaja made the breakthrough when the 15-year-old Safina served two double faults to lose her serve.

The second set was all Safina and she won it without losing a game to set up the finale.

Widjaja broke first, and served for the match at 5-4 only to lose her own serve.

But the 16-year-old Indonesian immediately broke again and this time served out.

Qualifying Day Two

There were two former Junior Wimbledon Champions in action today in the ladies’ singles and both showed good form to progress to the second round of Ladies’ Qualifying. Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium, last year’s junior girls' champion at Wimbledon, beat Nathalie Vierin of Italy (ranked 138 places above her at 178), 6-0, 6-4. Meanwhile, the 2001 girls’ singles champion, Angelique Widjaja of Indonesia progressed with a more comfortable 6-2, 6-1 win over Alena Vaskova of the Czech Republic.

Qualifying Day Three

Angelique Widjaja of Indonesia, who won her title in 2001, reached the Qualifying Round comfortably with a 6-4, 6-1 win over the Ukranian Alyona Bondarenko. Seeded 21, and already with two WTA Tour titles to her name, the 19 year-old from Bandung looks on course to fulfilling the promise she showed on the junior circuit.
