She has a very difficult draw. Her 1r match is against a qualifier, which should be okay, but in the second round she faces Hantuchova, who appears to be coming out of her slump in a big way. If she got through that she would probably face Sharapova. Ack.

The first and fastest finisher of today's first matches. Lena won 6-1 6-2 :)

I saw the second set of Lena's match... and I'm as confused as anyone else as to why she withdrew.

She was awesome... everyone was ooh-ing and aah-ing at pretty much everything she did. I love the way she carries herself on court... that upturned collar, that haughty stride. There was no sign of any injury at all... I can't even remember a point which could have led to an injury... especially an injury which couldn't have healed in the two to three days' rest she assuredly would have got.

Small consolation ATM Lena's made the top 20. Hopefully, she'll be back on the courts very soon. If not hopefully, she'll be as lucky as Farina/Suarez next year.

She withdrew because she has an abdominal strain. Lena probably felt pain just sitting down.
You want her to risk a major abdominal tear? Should Lena wait to withdraw, when she needs to rest and get medical help?
