Thought it was time BUMP this one.

Qualified then won a rnd and gave Casey a good match by the looks of the scoreline.

Holly's turn to be the one we pin our hopes on after Alicia.

Has she any promise??

It's good to see Holly playing again. I really wish she'd play more tournaments. It's hard to tell how much potential she has since she plays so little. :(

I've seen her play and practice many many of times. Double handed bh, single handed fh.
Have you seen much of the psycho dad? Is he really that bad?

She is only 15 i think so can only play a handful of tournaments

however if she keeps going like she has in the first 3 events i would not be shocked to see the junior lovers at tennis australia give her an ao qualy wildcard!

Id be suprised if TA didn't give her one!

And if all the hopefulls bomb in Sth Australia and the lead-ups to the Aus Open - they may pull an Olivia and give her a main draw one! Highly unlikely but not out of the question!

Holly's results have certainly been respectable considering her vulnerable age and the fact that she doesn't play all that often. Certainly one player whose results I have been following with interest.

Good luck Ms Holly Cao :)

well depends what you mean. compulsory schooling? from my knowledge she should have done the SC this year. but whether she is gonna continue to yr 11 and 12 is something i have no idea about.

I meant total schooling. I'd assume she'll complete her final 2 years of high school, as she seems pretty studious.

I really hope she focuses more on tennis and play more tournaments in the future, because she really does seem to have potential.

^i think it's gonna be hard if she continues school but if she manages her time okay, she'll be fine. think it depends on her subjects. i have no idea what she's gonna do. perhaps she can do that pathways thing so she can study and concentrate on tennis at the same time but then that would make school longer...

ozfan44
Dec 5th, 2005, 06:14 AM
I think sophie ferguson completed her year 12 studies by spreading it out over 2 years doing 3 or subjects one year then 3 or 4 the next!

from what i heard she thought it worked well!

yeah i think she can do pathways and that's perhaps what the teachers are gonna tell her to do if she wants to continue for education and play tennis. there are/were other girls in our school who do/did pathways.

hey everyone,
i know holly personally as i'm in a few of her classes at school.

as far as i know right now, she's continuing on with school. we've done our subject selections for yr11 and i think she's done hers as well. also, at our school certificate presentation, our year advisor didnt say that she was leaving. normally, the people who are leaving would get a special mention.

holly was in melbourne at the end of last year, competing for a wildcard spot into australian open (the one that jelena dokic was playing in). apparently, she also got offered a spot to train at some place in the US. i dunno if she's accepted it or not, but if she does accept it then she'll be moving to the US i think, and our school would lose a fine tennis player! i guess i'll find out when school starts!

I wonder if she'll turn pro or continue on with study?

Speaking of Holly, she lost 1st rd in juniors, but to a good player. Thankfully, she's entered $25K Sydney. :)

If Holly has any promise she should've handled Adriana.

But congrats to Adriana, judging by her scores, she seems refreshed.

I watched Holy play at the Australian Open play offs or qualies, I'm not sure...but yes her dad did look rather 'seedy' and creepy. He was yelling quite a lot and smoking next to the court, he just didn't look like a nice person...but Holly has a great game so I really hope she does play.

Some players like Luczak show that it is possible to combine getting a degree with a tennis career. J PSmith from Townsvile is doing very well in Tennessee at university.
