OK I'm a huge fan of Daniela Hantuchova, but I've been fortunate enough to see Maria play at Birmingham against Stosur & Molik & the 2nd Doubles match, & was so impressed by her attitude, calmness, entertainment value & having time for her fans!
This young lady thoroughly deserves the Win(s) she's achieved today! Maria was worth the admission money alone!
The highlight of my 3 days there, was getting her autograph on Friday & having my photo taken with her. I don't know whether you visit this site, Maria, but thank you so much for playing in my home City (PLEASE COME BACK NEXT YEAR!!), and providing such fantastic entertainment. Keep smiling, happiness spreads!!

Actually I didn't watch this match because I don't have cable TV. My sister has it in her room, but I don't think they would broadcast Masha's match live because it was late in the night already.

I went to bed at midnight and woke up at 2am to check the scoreline. Needless to say I was so happy when I saw Masha'd won it - before the match, I thought both players had a 50/50 chance to win it.

Masha's performance was almost flawless. Though Daniela didn't do anything to spoil that (actually, I believe she could). Dani seemed to be slow and had problems with Masha's 1st serve. Masha, in her turn, was in a great form as I had hoped, everything came her way.

Masha overcame stiff resistance from Ai Sugiyama and won a grueling QF match 5-7 7-5 6-1 :bounce:
What can I say... It was the most nerve-wrecking, heartbreaking mind-boggling match since Safin-Mantilla encounter at RG this year. Masha failed to convert breakpoints she had early in 1st set and started to play very nervously. The last games of 1st set and almost entire 2nd set seemed to be a total disaster. Many times in 2nd set she was on the verge of crying. That was a real heartache to watch. Fortunately RG'04 QF scenario didn't repeat itself here. Maria managed to calm down in the 3rd and confidently won it :bounce:

I am so proud!!! Because she is 17, in a Wimbledon final, and finally proves herself for real with a win over a top 10 with 3 Slams already. Now people will shut up hopefully. I am sure Davenport is devastated, she crushed her dreams. Must be a bad day for her, but wow, Masha never dies! She is such a fighter. People say Lindsay choked, but she didnt, lol. Masha really fought--really fought it out in 2nd set and then that tiebreak! And then Lindsay couldnt handle her anymore. Obviously people can not handle this loss of Lindsay's. Anyway, I am so happy. Masha has come so far. I cant wait to see the match--to see her beautiful face and Yuri's beautiful reaction!

Awesome match! From heart attack to the tears of joy, oh what a fight it was! Masha started a bit less intense than usual and got broken early. First set went under Lindsay dominance 6-2. Then mother nature repayed its debt of RG'04 quarterfinals and gave players a rain delay from which Masha benefitted most. She calmed down, hung on and won 2nd set 7-6. 3rd set was almost a carbon copy of her semifinal match and ended with compelling win 6-1. Thank you Masha for such a beautiful match and congratulations! :bounce:
