I love u Paola :bounce: :bounce: :woohoo:

what a beatdown...

watchin the match now...paola is keeping the ball deep and since the clay is damp maria's shot dont have their usual penetration, she looks lost...she has no patience and that cost her

Suarez played smart and consistent. Her main weapon is that heavy topspin forehand....
She used it to send Sharapova wide and then move her about the court.
Sharapova looks surprisingly vulnerable when she is being moved about the court and getting akward shots such as Suarez was giving her.

Lets face it.... Maria's round 1 and 2 opponents were complete duds.
Suarez on the other hand... has fought through some very tough opponents and not lost a set.

First of all Congrats to Suarez!!! You should have been the semifinalist a few years back...but you are now!!!! :bounce:

Secondly, come on guys, give Maria the credit....it may be true that her first few round opponents were not so good..(she had vera in the third round)...but she hasn't choked yet, so it's credit to her for keeping composure and coming to quarterfinals...

Too bad for today, but i know you tired your best...Go for Wimbledon now!!! :bounce:

Well, finally the Sharapova worshippers are back to the reality world! Come on, Paola Suarez is not #14 by pure luck, and clay is probably her best surface... I expected this result, congrats to Suarez, she will definitely have a shot at the RG final (although she won't be the favourite in any case...)
As for Sharapova, eventually it will be good for her to progress step by step! A bigger result here might have put too much pressure on her young shoulders...

Congrats to Paola... way to teach the kid. :)

Lets face it.... Maria's round 1 and 2 opponents were complete duds.
Suarez on the other hand... has fought through some very tough opponents and not lost a set.
I know Masha had an easy draw... but Paola had the cupcake draw of all...

4 Suarez(14) - Jie Zheng (http://home17.inet.tele.dk/wta/sp/zhen1586.htm) 6-4 7-5
3 Suarez(14) - Tatiana Perebiynis (http://home17.inet.tele.dk/wta/sp/pere984.htm) 6-3 6-3
2 Suarez(14) - Vera Douchevina (http://home17.inet.tele.dk/wta/sp/douc2452.htm) 6-1 6-4
1 Suarez(14) - Milagros Sequera (http://home17.inet.tele.dk/wta/sp/sequ1044.htm) 6-3 6-4

Plus beating Sharapova to get to GS SF is pretty nice. :p

I dont think it was that easy of a draw for her..Douchevina is no pushover and Tatiana Perebiynis did beat Dokic and Harkleroad (if thats a big surprise) lol

Jie Zheng also beat Loit and Garbin..

Masha lost. Total meltdown (mental) in the 1st set. Paola was nervous too but was able to control it. Masha showed what she could do in the very beginning of 2nd set, but unfortunately could not keep that level of play. Weather didn't help too.

She looked incredibly nervous and this was reflected in her game. But fair play to Suarez, who played well.

Well done Paola! :yeah:

but it is working for maria quite well...shes won like two titles in the past year, has consistenly improved, made the quarters at roland garros beating last years semi-finalist zvonareva!! good progress and keep going for ur shots maria!!!

maria and dokic have similar games but maria is a better volleyer and server which is why she is having some consistency.. jelena has more power for sure tho and she can outhit anyone from the baseline, just a matter of improving her serves and volleys...and head
