From being a sure bet we're now still favs but no longer clear cut after withdrawal of Maria Kirilenko
Vera Douchevina should be unbeaten and she's the star in this field.

Belarus have a plump card with Daria Kustava playing as #2 so she should win her matches playing other #2

Germany have a pretty good team as well, Tatjana Malek bt Anna Bastrikova last week in Bavarian Open

Slovaks have a pretty sound #1 in Jarmila Gajdosova

Czechs failed to qualify :o

Thanks Eggy for posting the info! This is surprising CZECH failed to qualify. How come? I think it's a very good team.

Oh, that's too bad that Maria K couldn't make it. I reallly like her more now. I hope she can be a threat along with other Russian group. Let's go, Russian gals!!:bounce: :bounce:

Czech Team lost to Germany in SF at home in Ostrava two weeks ago

team was
1-Lucie Safarova
2-Katerina Bohmova
3-Veronika Chvojkova

they came 3rd in Zone B winning 3/4 play-off

they didnt field best team , could have had Strycova & Cekovska as they are still eligible for U16.

Daria Kustava is #2 for BLR as she doesn't have a ETA rank.

complex way of working out #1 and #2
WTA rank, ITF junior rank and ETA rank is involved.

Eggy, why did Maria K. withdraw? She looks kind of frail. I hope she is not hit with the Russian injury curse that so many have suffered from.

Wow! A Sharky sighting! Sharky, I knew you'd like Masha K, too. She kind of reminds me of Maria Sharapova.

I'm not to sure why she has withdrawn, most likely injured my guess.

Makes a diff as she would have been #2, now Anna T is #2 and back up Olga is not in same class as Maria.
I'm sure we will be fine though.

I don't think we should worry. Tchakvetadze is playing really well and Panova is pretty good too.

I hope the GB team captain used his head and played Hannah Grady in all the matches.

She was unbeaten except against Maria Kirilenko in the last round.
