"It's an awkward feeling going somewhere where maybe Americans aren't really wanted"

Lindsay Davenport explains why she is unlikely to compete in the Athens Olympics.

It'll be a bit better if she wins the thing

I can definately see why she thinks that, its a shame because i am sure she would represent America well.

And why would she, as an American player, not be welcome in Athens? Sure Europe (and the rest of the world ;)) isn't too keen on America in general these days, but if there's one event where nationality doesn't matter, it's the Olympics! The more competitors, the better... Of course she's got the right to stay home if she doesn't feel 100% safe, but I hope she'll play anyway!:)

I think she said that she wasn't welcome in Greece for another reason. Frankly, she is less likely to be attacked in France.

exactly *touch wood* no one will want to plant bombs in france hence she will feel safer espec as bombs have gone off in athens. i will support her in her decision, if she decides to play or stay away, she knows best
