Maria is straights, she is playing like a top 5 player in my opinion, so she will advance to the semis like one also :D

Maria will win easily. Paola played a horrible match in R16, based on the match stats. Maria is playing awesome. 6-2 6-2. :bounce:

Up until this point, I thought Suarez would be in the semis, but now I think Maria in 2. If it goes three though, I expect Paola to win.

Paola because she is a better claycourter and will use the court to her advantage. on any other surface, maria would win

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Fernandez not very experienced and a new-comer to the GS scene when she won through to the SFs?

Hmmm, hard to pick. I really, really, really hope Paola can capitalise on her chance to make the semi's here this time. Last time, against Clarisa, it was her first GS QF and she seemed to lose her nerve; she's now had plenty of experience of playing and winning big matches in doubles, and has gone far at Wimbledon and the US Open, so hopefully that added experience will help give her more confidence this time. With this being on clay I think she has a good chance, but it looks like Maria's been playing well, (though thanks to British Eurosport I've not *seen* either of them play here!) ..... this is a match a wouldn't like to bet on!!! ;)

I am not voting.... ;)

Let's analyze Maria's game and Suarez's game:

Forehand: Maria wins
Backhand: Suarez wins
Groundstrokes: Maria wins
Maria's serve: Maria wins cuz Suarez can't return her serve (too strong)
Suarez's serve: Maria wins cuz she can attack Suarez's serve and breaks several times
Varieties: Suarez wins
Pace: Suarez wins
Clay Experience and preference: Suarez wins
Net volley: Tied :awww:

I predict a 3 set match.... but who knows...... ;)

one time is possible
but two not

Paola had QF in RG 2002 and USO 2003
the third is the time of the glory

Paola to SF in three:bounce:

Overrating Masha's serve... especially on clay.

Underrating Paola's a bit also... as she can get a few aces.

Either way... the serve won't be a key issue in this match.

The match is on Masha's racquet...

If Masha plays great tennis for 2 sets, she wins...

If Paola can hang in there, and annoy a set from Masha... then Masha will likely play a horrible set to follow.

I think the 2nd will happen. Paola in 2 or 3 sets... one close, then the next easy.

Maria will lose the first set 7-6 or 7-5 and the second 6-1 or 6-0

If Suarez wins, she's in the top ten when the tournament's over.

Farina Elia bageled Sharapova in Rome a week and a half ago. Finesse players can make life miserable for power players on clay, and clay really penalizes inexperience.

This is a lower-ranked, inexperienced power player vs a higher-ranked, veteran finesse player on red clay.

Suarez in three.

Paola's been solid and is an experienced clay courter but I like Maria's chances here. She's extremely confident and of the three Russian semifinalists I believe she has the best chance to advance. I predict Maria will capitalize on the opportunity and win in three.

I think Masha will win in 3 sets. If Suarez plays below her usual level, then she'll lose in straights!

Bnepeg Masha!

Suarez def Sharapova in two. The choice of only 13% of those polled. Boy are we dumb.
