Golovin, Mauresmo Awarded by Media

PARIS - Rising French star Tatiana Golovin was presented with the Prix Bourgoen on Friday, an award that is voted on by the international media attending Roland Garros.

Known as the 'Revelation of the Year' award, it is presented each year to a promising young player. Previous winners include Monica Seles, Anke Huber, Mary Pierce, Iva Majoli, Martina Hingis, Amelie Mauresmo and Jelena Dokic.

The 16-year-old received the award from former ATP player Henri Leconte and French figure skating star Brian Joubert.
Golovin made her big splash onto the WTA Tour in January when she reached the Australian Open fourth round. She followed by reaching her first Tour semifinals at the Open Gaz de France in February and has compiled a 14-7 record on the year. She began the year ranked No.345 in the world and has risen to a career-best No.65.

She was making her Roland Garros debut this year and fell to Klara Koukalova in a pair of tiebreaks in the first round.

No.3 seed Amelie Mauresmo won the Prix Orange Award, presented for fair play and accessibility to the media and public.
