I just discovered there's an Italian qualifier in the mens singles (Grosjean's opponent in today's 2r) called: Potito Starace

This is such a brilliant name: apart from the resemblence to "potato" and the star + ace components in the surname, it sounds wonderful in Italian.

Do any of you have players names you love the sound of or which make you laugh?

Venus Williams. the name venus is just so unique and i love the way how tabloids and reports etc, can play with her name to show a good result, i.e "Venus rising" or "Venus in orbit".:)

A couple of other names I've always found funny are:
Jana Pospisilova (that one brings out the juvenile in me)
Regina Rajchrtova (alphabet spaghetti or what)
Gala Leon Garcia (all the "g" and "l" sounds, the rolled r and the Spanish "c" with those rapid fire vowels in between)
and then the Flemish and Dutch ones that are easily transformed into rude words like Miriam Orifice, Kim Clitoris and Sabine Nipplemans.

God, I was just about to edit my earlier post to say how the name Jana Pospisilova always makes me laugh and feel like a 10-year-old schoolboy at the same time :D A friend of mine always makes me smile by referring to Jo Durie as Jo Dreary.

Oh, and every time I see Conchita Martinez play, I'm reminded of a nun because of Conchita's name (Inmaculada Concepcion Martinez Bernat).

That makes me feel so much better to know that others haven't gotten over (or lost) the ten-year-old inside!

My brother cruelly christened "Lindsay Davenpork" and Steffi "Slutty Gruff" and until recently I assumed that people on the board had rebaptised Justine as "Christine" in reference to Stephen King's possessed car rather than the umpire.
