look at Sprem's results when she came on tour.. Masha's results..

Their are several big talents, and we have no idea how they will develop. Some players might be incredibly talented but never reach the top.

you're saying she'll be number one based on those results?? don't make me laugh.

being number one means playing FULL TIME on tour. that's different than playing once in a long time, when you have a lot of energy.

beating people consistently is another story, when you play week after week.

PM me when she gets to number one, please.

just by the way she trash talks other players, she's shown she has no discipline. you need discipline to get to number one.

It's a big possibility, but she needs to focus her energy and mature her game.

I never said she was going to be number one, i was curious to know your thoughts about it.

she is 14 years old, if you didn't know that, and with those results, and a current rank of 198, i think she is quite a chance. You need more than discipline to get to number one :tape:

Sharapova is just 2 years older, and a 3-6 6-3 6-2 loss is quite a start.

Sesil is a brilliant athlete and that's a tremendous advantage she has over the competition. :) In a couple of years when she's on the WTA Tour Sesil will be the best athlete in women's tennis in terms of quickness and speed. There is no doubt about it. But it's imperative that she grows taller so she can develope her serve into a weapon. Her speed is already her greatest attribute. :D And lacking confidence won't be a problem for Sesil. ;)

you started a thread asking for opinions--and that's exactly what you 'll get. dont be surprised when ppl dont agree with you. and no need to

sesil is a very good player. ( yes i know how old she is) but whether she'll get to number one is WAY to early to tell.

look at all those players who did well early in their careers---dokic, stevenson, lucic, tracy austin---these are ppl who made BIG IMPACTS at grand slam events...and none got to number one. ( austin did for, what, like 2 weeks??)

it takes MUCH MORE than good early results. and sesil's results arent even grand slam results.

sharapova beat sesil, and sharapova isnt even top ten yet.

yes, it takes MORE than discipline to get to number one. and from what i've heard, sesil doesnt even have discipline. she's quick?? big whoop. which 13 year old isn't quick?? speed is EVERY 13 year olds' weapon. we'll talk if she still has speed when she's 18 and post-puberty.

How she plays in the ITF does not necessarily indicate how she's going to play in WTA events.

She's 14, she's played a couple of ITF events and one WTA event. Like that's a indicator of anything. She's ranked 198! There's a whole 198 people ahead of her who could suddenly move up (not that I'm saying that's likely) I'm just saying 5 events show nothing.

Show me the first 5 events of any of the #1s and tell me how that showed they were going to be #1.

Like Nicole, Sesil's got a legit shot in a few years. Also like Nicole, its pointless to project that far into the future, IMO.
