OK, I've only seen Garbin play twice.

Time 1: 2001 Miami (3rd or 4th RD). Venus won 7-5 7-6

Time 2: 2004 French (2nd RD) Tied with JHH 5-5

And she beat Seles in 01

She's certainly holding her own.

Not really. She doesn't know what to do when challenged on the big points. She's had so many chances.

Meh... Tax only had those 2 good tournaments in 2001, in IW and Miami... plus some good results like 3-4 years ago in crap clay tournies.

Looks like she took her chances today...and chalk this up as another good tournament for her

When it comes to clay and you can obviously see your opponent hasn't got the stuff, it's pretty easy if you are Garbin to possibly win the match.

If Garbin was a consistent, big match player she would not be ranked where she is now.........

Yep, she started to pull back and let Justine miss and it finally worked.

She's one of those upset artists that knows how to beat someone that doesn't have it. I wouldn't put her in the category of people who could win the tournament, but after watching a couple points this morning, Tax upsetting Justine wasn't out of the question - she just kept frustrating her and taking risks, but she really just let Justine self-destruct, that's what a good upset artist knows how to do.
