Hmm Mary's tournament will probably end in the third round.
Venus will probably wait there and that will be a mission imposible.
Or what do you guys think??

Given Mary's recent results and possible injury situation, I'd be satisfied, if not ecstatically happy, with a third round loss to Venus. As she's defending no points, two wins would ensure a valued seeding position at Wimbledon, if nothing else.

Emm...its a tough draw...but I wouldn't count Mary out...Venus lost to Raymond this year...and Mary hits a lot harder than Raymond...

I'll keep my mind open...anything can happen...but as Mark said..1st round is always toughest psychologically...and if Mary can get through...anything can happen!!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

Mary vs Venus - I want Mary to win this match, but it will be very hard.

I saw Venus in Warsaw and she was in great form... We will see.

But first Mary must beat Schaul and Granville or Garcia.

I am positive but I don't think that there are any posibilities in
the world that Mary can beat Venus. I'm sorry if you guys finds that
negative but as "morbidangle" say, I'm just trying to be a little realistic.
Venus has three straight finals and mary has i think 3 straight first round looses. I believe that Venus will be a little to much for Mary to handle.
And Mark of course I support her but this is what I think about the draw.

I don't think that you can compare these two tournaments.
And Mary and Lisa is two very different players. Lisa is much faster then Mary is and that's the key if someone wants to beat Venus. And also, that was Venus first tournament after the long break from the tour so I don't think you can compare these two tournaments and the circumstances.

I hope nobody minds but I'm not doing the prediction thing, I just want Mary to enjoy herself in Paris and if she wins -- and I hope she does -- all the better! Either way she has my unqualified support.

Saby that is the way I like to take it.

I think doing it that way is less pressure on Mary. I think that if people expect things and results that makes them hard to get ????

HEY HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

I'm a little bit worry about Mary's physical shape. But, I so agree with Nicolas, if Mary wins the first two rounds, she will be really good. Vénus Williams? Ok, that girl is really a good player, but, Mary will be at home, and if it' s a " Mary Pierce des Grands jours ", she will defeat her. Be positive and go Mary Pierce !!!!!

I wonder if you really can say that Mary is a better player on clay.
Lindsay leads 2-1 against Mary on clay so I wonder.

I really hope that Mary can win the first round of course, but again I don't have any expectations on her this time. I just want her to have fun out there and just play her game.

I can't believe that you think Schaul will be beaten easily ...

Mary has lost against ... Morigami, Likhovtseva, and Sugiyama !

So don't plan the third round, the only thing we can say is that Schaul is a very very good player, with some confident ... She can hit the ball very hard, so I don't know if Mary's game will trouble her !

But I DO hope that Mary can win this first match.

Hehe yes I also hope that. I think it could help her, and mabye
make Schaul a little bit nervous.
But I am quite sure that they plan mary to play on the Suzanne Lengle.

Well...to tell you guys the truth I've never seen this Scahul girl play...and I've no idea what are her stengths and weaknesses....

But what I'd like to point out is...can Scahul carry and sustain her momentum into RG...not many players can do that...I think Schnyder also has a similar run in Charleston 2002 where she beat Mary, Serena and Capriati en route in reaching the finals...but she wasn't able to carry it off in the following tournaments...

But I understand u guys being anxious about Mary's first round...everything is so unpredictable isn't it....but the fact is that this is RG...Mary loves RG and the crowd loves her...so this might be an advantage to Mary.... she might be relaxed and play her best....;)

Go Mary!!!!!!!!!!:bounce: :bounce:

I wonder if you really can say that Mary is a better player on clay.
Lindsay leads 2-1 against Mary on clay so I wonder.

It was the green clay I guess :p
Let's face it, Mary won (Italian open, Amelia Island, Hilton Head, FRENCH OPEN) or was finalist (Hamburg, German Open, Amelia Island again and again FO again) of the best clay court tournaments from around the world and Lindsay ?? I don't know but I don't think we can compare that to Mary + Mary leads with clay court specialists(Martinez, S.Vicario) in head to head.

You are right it will be probably the Lenglen, usually Mary plays on this one, well I would be very surprise if the match is taking place on another court than Lenglen or center court.

Guys, I don't know for you but for me, I will considered Schaull as a real danger for Mary, it's not because I don't trust Mary but it's a grand slam and everybody got a chance to win.

We know Mary, she's able to lose and to win to anybody.

I hope she will be concentrate, she has her game back, she is in a good shape.
She just has to conbinate both like she did in the past.

I will just say, keep going and fight. Nothing is impossible

Mary is a far more accomplished clay court player than Lindsay! How many Tier 1 clay titles has Lindsay ever won? yes she has a 2-1 lead on clay, but thats because she is a really tough opponent for Mary, not because she is a better clay court player. Mary has a winning head to head on clay against Steffi,Monica,Hingis,Arantxa and Conchita. And everything else I wanted to say has already been posted by Tompier
