-Serena under the spotlight on Thursday-

Serena Williams will take on Madagascan Dally Randriantefy under floodlights on Thursday evening to decide who goes through to the quarter final at the top of the draw. On paper, it is no contest, given Serena`s outstanding record and Dally`s WTA ranking of 100. But the younger of the Williams sisters had trouble controlling her groundstrokes in her first match on Tuesday, while Dally looked every bit the all-court player during her first round upset victory against 15th seed Magdalena Maleeva. Serena will have to up her game to win. Play on centre court opens at 1pm with second seed Amelie Mauresmo against Spain`s Conchita Martinez, the number 13 seed. Francesca Schiavone, one of Italy`s best hopes, will take on unseeded Russian Elena Likhovtseva in the second match on the main court. Maria Sharapova, the Russian bombshell, is scheduled to take third place on the show court. On the Pallacorda court, Italy`s Flavia Pennetta, victor over the tournament`s number four seed on Wednesday, will have to dig deep again against a hard-hitting Anna Smashnova, the 16th favourite in Rome. Jennifer Capriati is also expected to be given a hard time against Argentine Paola Suarez - the second match on the Pallacorda. Svetlana Kuznetsova and Al Sugiyama open play on court six, also at 1pm.
