I say at least #4 because for one she recently reached the final there and has not lost any clay matches in almost 52 weeks!

This includes a 15 match winning streak on clay.:wavey:

No.1 maybe? She's a clay specialist and at the moment is the best on clay on the tour. I understand a lot of ppl disagree with me but I certainly believe she deserves it.

:wavey: Hmmmm...tough question.

For me top 4 would be

1. JHH (Defending Champ)
2. Serena (On her day clearly the best player on tour)
3. Venus (2nd best player on tour)
4. Molik (hehehe.....I'm kidding...but looks nice:drool: ):wavey:

:haha: agreed :yeah:

1. Henin
2. Amelie
3. Serena
4. Venus

for the simple reason i wouldn't want Amelie to feel hard done by again :)

But Is It the kind of injury easily "re-aggravated" (thus putting her favourite ;) Surface Slam @ risk)?

Aren't seedings done according to ranking ?

they can manipulate them if they choose to :)

They tend to it at Wimbeldon more than anywhere else though.

Venus should be in the top 4 with JHH, Serena and Amelie. Its not too important if its 3 or 4, not like it makes any difference.

They don't generally manipulate the seedings in Paris though I don't think.

I don't pay much attention to how ranking protections work but I thought I had read way back concerning the sisters that both would recieve a special seeding in their first Slam or two back?

If that's the case, regardless, Venus probably will be seeded in the top five along with Serena.

Venus should be seeded in top 4. Thatīs much safer for Momo....

In all fairness, this slam, I say that Amelie should be seeded number two or three. I mean it is her home slam and not the USopen where that would matter much. I am tired of seeing Amelie being the one always affected by the special seedings rule. I remember that when Lindsay came back and was seeded ahead of Amelie, I felt for Amelie then and now to have it affected by not only serena's special number two or one seeding, but also by Venus too. It would push her down to number four seed and to think that she (Amelie) was the one playing the clay season and serena was off and to come back and be seeded higher? I am a big time Williams fan, but I would like to have Serena and Venus play their hearts out and then to have a grandslam and the injured players come back and push them down a knotch from number two or three seed all the way to number four.

Do what they did at the Australian Open, seed her above Amelie

Seed her according to her ranking. It's never mattered before, she made her first slam final unseeded.

It has mattered before, just recall some of the cakewalk draws she received becuase of her ranking

The FO do occassionally manipulate the seedings, as recently as 2000 or 2001. But as far as Venus and Serena are concerned I don't think they really care as long as they are on opposites sides of the draw. They realize that in order to win a grand slam you still have to win 7 matches regardless of who you play.

It doesn't matter as she has beaten every top player on several times. And to win a slam you have to beat those players.

But the cakewalk draws do help

I think Venus should be seeded in the top 5 players. # 4 would only be fair because she's been playing some awsome tennis and she deserves it. Go VEnus............... You go girl A fan forever AVIS

Listen all you airheads out there.
This is the way seeding goes.Special seeding is allowed for being off for a length of time... follow me so far !Then there is GRAND SLAMS wins Does Amelia have any if so not more than the Williams sisters, but thats neither here nor there Whats important is that Amelia is seeded within the top 5 also not that France is her home.Let her get some Slams under her belt first then we'll go from there

i think that if the french seed Amelie number 2, she will feel even more pressue to perform to the utmost of her capibilities. thus forcing her to go down in the 1st round

should be

JHH
Serena
Amelie
Venus

2.Mauresmo
3.Davenport
4.Williams, S
5.Myskina
6.Petrova
7.Williams, V
8.Capriati

You could make Serena #2 instead of #4, but I can't see RG not giving their best players the highest possible seed. And withthe last three champions in the top eight players still committed, I don't see how you can move Venus into the top four.

Now, on clay court playing ability and respect for recent champs

1.Henin-Hardenne
2.Williams, S
3.Williams, V
4.Mauresmo
5.Capriati
6.Davenport
7.Myskina
8.Petrova

It donīt matter....only two players above her in the draw have gone further than Venus at the tournament, that is: winning. So she got the experience....now seed Momo 2...we all have seen how well she handles the expectations anyways.

That's actually THE best arguement for seeding Serena above her, if you're tournament committee. Pissed and feeling dissed, she'll play like you insulted her mother. With the weight of expectation (and a #2 seed) on her....

If she has a special seeding still it ought to be used. It doesn't matter where she is between 4 and 8 anyway. The only problem the special ranking creates is that it removes the possibility of Serena and Venus being in the same half of the draw which means that isn't left to chance.
