Sanchez-Lorenzo d. Testud 3-6, 6-3, 6-4... S-L is a good clay courter, but c'mon!

testud needs to play more matches, she's obviously still too rusty

Maria & Testud were 2:1 on clay before Testud retired... now they just are 3:1 :)

Plus it will take some time and more match play for Sandrine to get reacclimated to the tour. She seems to be proving she can still play good tennis.

Sandrine would always make it to the quarter-semi in every tournament.

Well, yeah, SL is a good clay courter, so I don't know why you're rolling your eyes.

Because Sandrine should beat her regardless.... :o

indeed..I think Testud should participate in some lower tier tournaments and build up her confidence...
it hurts when you loses nearly every matches when you make your comeback....:(

Sure.. if the great Conchita lost by almost the exact same score last week i don`t see why a retired Sandrine could not lose too.

And i  because indeed was a great performance by Sandrine, Sanchez Lorenzo has been consistent lately and obviously it`s never easy to comeback.

She has been playing some challengers, and losing in the first and second rounds of those as well.

How dare 32 year old Sandrine lose to clay loving, much improved Maria S-L in 3 sets, only shortly after Sandrine returned from maternity leave:rolleyes:

Well, it would have actually been a surprise had she won that match. It will take her some time to get in shape and I doubt she will ever be nearly as good as she was before.

Give the woman a break, the comeback trail is not easy for everybody.

Sandrine has always needed alot of matches to be at the top of her form and her performance today is encouraging. I hope she isn't too discouraged she hasn't racked up more wins.

As several posters have mentioned, Maria is a tough clay courter who's having a terrific year (I believe this is her highest ranking (42) to date?). The fact that Sandrine is playing competitively against the Top 100 should be encouraging enough. I'm sure it's not easy to raise a small child and win at this level so kudos to her for doing it. I don't think it's fair to expect her to compete at the top ten level she was at when she left the tour two years ago.
