I think this isn't right!! Maybe they mean Dhenin in stead of Henin.

This can't be correct. She's in Belgium, and is training. I think it's
Dhenin who plays dubs, and did so in previous years at Roma.

well, as it has been said earlier, it can't be true ;)

It's the French dubs player not "The Boss". Besides she wouldn't dare let
them list her name without the Hardenne stuck to the end with the hypen,
despite wasting more ink or type fonts. ;)

I'm sure they'll get a huge laugh about this back at the secret training
HQ in Wallonia. ;)

I'm sure it must be Caroline Dhenin though Justine played doubles with Conchita Martinez Granados at the US Open a couple of years ago.

She seems to be in the draw, It's a mistake or maybe (MAYBE) she wants to get a little match practice without too much pressure
But I doubt it, it would have been on her official site

Ruano/Suarez bye
Ad. Serra Zanetti/Reeves v Marrero/An Serra Zanetti
Hantuchova/Pierce v Medina/Sanchez Vicario
Farina/Schiavone v Kostanic/Dementieva
Bartoli/Dokic v Camerin/Penetta (WC)
Garbin/Morariu v Testud/Vinci

Husarova/Martinez v Jidkova/Panova
Q's v Henin/Martinez-Granados
Jankovic/Schaul v Molik/Serna
Petrova/Shaugnessy bye

Kuznetsova/Likhovtseva v Barna/Weingartner

Well, normally it would be Henin-Hardenne and there's absolutly no information in Belgium about Justine possibly playing doubles in Rome

MLF

That whole draw seems pretty much fake to me. Firstly Kuznetsova & Likhovtseva would be the #2 seeds not Raymond & Navratilova.

Paola and Vivi have a bye and no one else, if the #1 seeds get a bye then so would the #2 seeds. A pair is listed as Zheng/Jie. Well Jie Zheng is one person so if she's entered doubles on her own she'll have a hard time. Her normal partner is Zi Yan. And there's a first for everything but when does Anna Pistolesi ever play doubles?

There are even more mistakes in it with Petrova/Shaugnessy getting a bye halfway through the draw, Ruano is never listes like this, always Ruano-Pascal ,3 quallies seems a bit too much and isn't it so the Serra Zanetti sisters normally play together?

Lindsay really bummed me out from 2000. She just was crabby
at matches, and gave up soooo easily. What happened is that
watching Justine against Kournikova at the US OPEN 2000 gave
me new lease on tennis viewing.

I didn't set to pick a winner, you know Greenhitop-always picking
the talented over the sure things. It's weird to actually support
someone who wins alot! ;) Oh..right; but everyone hate's her
so, things haven't changed that much- I suppoe.

CBSSportsline- was the best. The classic of tennis message boards.
Remember when what's his name let his cat type on the board one
night? :haha: I swear, that was some of the best essays I've
ever read on a tennis site.

You remember those crazy Quotes of the Week Contest and the "Mine" game we would play in order to get the hundredth post? You remember the insane Rafter fans? Seriously, I don't think I'll ever see a set of fans (maybe Seles' or Venus') who were as rabid as they were.

Right! The Rafterettes! :). Remember the constant Graf-vs-Seles
feuds that would breakout of nowhere in mid conversations? :rolls:
Oh...who could forget all those Hingis jokes. I do have to say that
there were really awfully funny (Sorry Hingis fans!), even though
it was truly rude. Who invented the "chuckie" moniker or that other one.."Big Forehead"?

Who can forget that day at WIMBLEDON between Venus and Jana.
She was so melodramatic back then wasn't she, that Venus? ;)

"It was OUT.. waaaaaaay out!!!"- Venus.

Do you remember when one of the posters called Venus "Olive Oil" when she was much skinnier than she is now? Oh, and you HAVE to remember the classic arguments between Seleshfan and Vornessa. They HATED each other? YOu remember that one poster who always came on there with the BAD poems.

Vorness! Yes, he was the one with the Cat that types about tennis.
What are the slim chances of a gay/hispanic Monica Seles fan
fighting on a message board with a black finger nail wearing
Goth kid with a lap cat. :haha:

I can't explain what it is that so different now?. The boards bigger, there's
still some of the same player, same supporters etc.. Everything is bigger,
with better reach, yet so much more sectioned off. Back in the old days
the WTA/ATP were stuck together. I guess this is just life in general now.

Yeah I did. The one thing I remember that regardless of which player we
truly supported that if there was an online match-chat we could get people
to ask questions to players for us if we were too busy or at school or whatever.

I just can't see that happening now! I just can't imagine Bandabou
saying.."Hey Greeny, I e-mailed my question to Justine for you!" :tape:

It's really weird because there are more fans here, and it seems that the allegiences would crossover more. Back then, they did. Then again, that board had more of a human side.

I don't know if you remember that party we through on the board after Venus' first Wimbledon(=) victory. .. . .LOL!!!!! The party got so outta hand, and by the time it was over, every fan from every fanbase was in the thread enjoying themselves. I think that that, after that board party, have of the posters logged of DRUNK from cyberpartying.

One thing that I've noticed and people might beg to differ; was that back
in the late 1997-2000 despite having a huge audience for the WTA it
seemed more accesible. I think the tone of the WTA has changed and
the ego's are really out of whack now no matter how much BS they
give the press. The money isn't that big of a deal, since everybody's
getting great sums of cash. The tour seemed to be more neutral before,
now it's every self proclamied tennis star for themselves.

Comments anyone?

*Yeah. I remember the victory party. Everyone was totally into
the spirit of it. It would never happen here! ;)

Pureracket
May 9th, 2004, 12:57 PM
YOu have a definite point about the money. There also seemed to be more of a united cause for the sport(almost like womens suffrage) which is something that there seems to be a deficiency of right now too. The money allows the players to be "stars". I'm not sure if that's always good for the sport or just the person, though.
