Meridian Match has an interview with Maggie in today's edition though
it seems it was done on Friday. I'll summarize it quickly for everybody.

Maggie was very tired mentally against Venus, just didn't have fire
inside. She had a strong allergic reaction to something unknown
before the Likhotseva game. Monday she couldn't bend to tie her shoes
and her face was swollen so much that her left eye almost closed.

Immediate plans - play Berlin, Rome & Rolland Garros. She is overall
happy with this year's performance except Indian Wells & Miami. She
would definitely finish this season, not sure about playing next one.
She doesn't feel old or tired just that 1/3 of her life has been
spend playing and she is missing on other things. She says she has
lots of ideas none grand, but most important she wants kids. She
hopes to finish the construction of her new tennis club around this fall.

Maggie thinks Sesil is a great talent and thus the Bulgarian tennis
torch is passed in good hands. Maggie sincerely hopes that Sesil will
have equal or better carrier than her. Maggie herself never had a big
dream about being number one or winning a particular tournament. She
considers her best achievement the fact that she came back from injury
and rose to the top10.

That is a nice accomplishment coming back from injury into the top 10. Well done, Magdalena! :D

Why do people say ROLLAND Garros...Isn't it Roland Garros?
And I hate when people say WimbleTON? WTF? It's Wimbledon!!!

OK, get well soon Maggie.

No, she would have beaten Maggie, but this explains the loopsided result. Thats a fact taken out of Maggies comment and no gogomaggie-speculation!!!

It will be a sad day if Maggie retires at the end of the year. Lets hope she can win another couple of titles before and a good shot of the slams (QFs at least).

Having been a Maleeva fan for a decade, I have been given more than I could've asked for by Maggie and her sisters. I don't care if she's retiring this year. I'm so grateful to her for all the excitement she's brought on me. Since Kimiko Date and eventually Mary Joe retired, Maggie has been all the reason that I have followed the tour. I'm sure I won't follow it as much after she calls it quits. Either way, the tour is getting weird for me cuz nowadays pre much the majority of the players are of my age or younger. When I first started watching the game, I had so much more respect for the players as they were older and more experienced as people. Not that I disrespect the current crop of players but my respect for them isn't the same I used to have for the older players. Maggie, Amy, Conchi, Monica, Sylvia, Amanda.. they have given so much more to me then the current top players.
