Berlin '03 points subtracted. 18th tournaments NOT added because a) the amounts in these 20 cases are trivial, and I expect all these players to get more points than their 18th.

* playing Berlin

01 6913.00 = 7353.00 -440.00 Henin-Hardenne

20 1300.00 = 1300.00 -000.00 Maleeva*

NOTE: Capriati is under extreme ranking presure. Williams Elder, Kuznetsova and Zvonareva are all playing well and starting the tournament within 250 points of Jenn. If the back isn't right, and she goes out early, she could find herself ranked #14 when this week is over.

NOTE: I'll edit this Tuesday when the WTA produces the official rankings.

The only three players in the top twenty NOT at this tournament are Henin-Hardenne, Davenport, and Williams Younger. Of course, during qualifying, Charleston looked like an incredibly strong field too.

And Rubin takes the classic downward spiral again :help: It should help that she only has 2 points to defend from Berlin and Rome though :p RUBIN come back we (I) MISS YOU!!! Do some pilates or something on that knee :awww:

I guess Rubin had her time, and she's probably thinking about retirement soon ;)
she isn't the person anymore that reached the '96 SF of Australian Open.
She's just a good subtopper.

With about 450 points on the offering, I see Venus reaching top 8 next week, if she does well. That of course depends on how Ai, Cappy and Dement do. A win could even mean #6 for Vee if Nadia has a short appearance.

Hey, ...great potential! ...But just potential!
Ahhhhh! At this point I'm more worried about new injuries!

This is a great field for the German Championships - I hope we finally get to see top players pitted against each other.

Venus could be ranked ahead of Serena for the first time in 2 years if she can win the whole thing

i love it when people doubt chanda because she always comes back and makes them look like fools. this is a women who has had no less 5 extended lay-offs from the game in the last 7 years, and every time she has back into or right near the top ten. this year she made the 4th round of a GS and a tier one semi and has lost only 2 matches. chanda is far from finished.

Wow, I had no idea Jennifer was that close to falling out of the top 10.
