Its going to be a tough one to call, Venus has obviously improved since they last played, but Sveta didnt just beat Venus, she thrashed her, even Venus on a good day might (whisper it) have lost to Sveta in Dubai.

I don't think there is going to be much contest for the final. I see Venus winning in straight sets. But I've been known to be wrong before, so who knows?! Anything can happen. However, this is a FINAL. And Venus is going to be very motivated. Let's hope both girls are healthy and play well. Should be an interesting match. ;)

QF Dubai Feb.29 2004 Svetlana Kuznetsova d. Venus Williams 6-2 6-3
1R Australian Jan.26 2003 Venus Williams d. Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4 6-2

I would have to give Venus the edge. She seems healthy again and already has a clay court title under her belt. But it will NOT be easy.Svetlana has made two finals this year but both on hard and it's only her first clay tournament.
Venus has the advantage because of confidence.

Venus d. Svetlana 6-4 7-5

i see it as otherwise like most, venus wasn't venus at all. the scoreline tomorrow will determine it.

at the australian open, both were healthy, dubai one wasn't, tomorrow both will be healthy. so if the pattern consists and we have an australian open result, it will be safe to say that venus really wasn't venus in dubai, and she just put put the best fight her body would physically let her.

Yeah, and Sveta hasn't improved at all since last year AO? :tape: Though I kinda agree with you.

Svetlana in 1! She'll continue that spanking she inflicted in Dubai, then a new injury will pop up on Vee :awww:

Well if one thing Sveta has going for her, is the fact she just beat Venus a few months ago. However, very, very few players can beat Venus back to back and most of you already know Serena is the one that has been doing that.

The fact this is clay could be dangerous for Venus if Sveta is on. But I have a feeling Williams at this moment has a little more game in her than the young Russian.

This one is actually quite tough to call. You want to win it; but do not
want to kill yourself and play out of your skin because it's not even
a Tier 1. There's always that fear of peaking to early. It's really tricky,
play well enough to win and gain confidence, yet not try to use up
all the emotional energy because RG is in the works weeks from now.

It could go either way, and shouldn't be any real set back for either
player.

Venus seem to be losing steam after playing straight week and this is evident against Vera.

Svetlana will win this encounter.:)

Vera has two opponents in that match; herself and Venus.:p Venus on the otherhand should have closed that match easily but it was evident that she's slowly losing focus on her service game/groundies, but thanks to Vera for wasting her chances...Venus can't afford this against the real top players.

Svetlana can certainly beat Venus in this match.

this would be Svetlana's revenge for her Russian sister Vera.:D

If she can play well, and keep her errors down, there's no reason why she can't win :)

the fact remains that Svetlana will beat Venus today.

Venus will win in two easy sets. Svetlana is good, but not good enought to beat Venus Williams two times in a row. And besides, most people thought Vera was going to beat Venus on red clay but that didn't happen.
