hey guys,

well Clay Nickerson used to do the Canadian Race To The Chase for singles and doubles (found on aceman's website) but it seems as though he has discontinued this, unless I am blind :p

So, I thought I would start my own thread and try to keep track of the singles points for the Canadian players (not that there is much work to do so far this year   )

1. Marie-Eve Pelletier - 68 points
2. Maureen Drake - 24 points
3. Kavitha Krishnamurthy - 8.75 points
4. Beier Ko - 7 points
5. Erica Biro - 4.5 points
6. Stephanie Dubois - 3 points
7. Eunice David - 1.25 points
8. Aneta Soukup - 1 point
8. Monika Dancevic - 1 point
8. Melanie Marois - 1 point
11. Diana Srebrovic - .25 points

Jeyaseelan, Shulaeva, Gloria, Rice, Plesu. Wozniak, Tetreault, Loeffler-Caro, and Cretu are all currently ranked on the singles list, but have yet to accumulate any points so far this season.

Quite a sad state of play so far this season I have to admit. These are the points after this week's matches (only player to gain points being Drake at Amelia Island, and Krishnamurthy from an Indian 10k event being added on).

Pelletier has had a decent season, and the same could probably be said of Krishnamurthy, but the rest will really need to pick things up. Hopefully with the Canadian challengers around the corner in a couple months, they will have a chance to win some matches at home.

a bad year for canada in women's tennis.......again

kavitha is choosing the right events to play in though, but her inconsistent results worry me. but she made the final of bendigo i think which was very surprising and impressive! just sometimes she has really horrible losses to no-name players which contradict her good results. but overall, a good year for her.

dubois came out strong and now is in a slump. this girl has potential ,and i sure hope she reaches it.

im glad beier chose to play the ho chi mihn city 10k this week, she needs to in order to pick up her rank.

Hi Randy

The Canadian Race to the Chase was produced by me. Clay produce the general stats page. You're not blind. I didn't make it yet this year due to lack of time but i hope to get a big weekend off just to work on the file again. I kept all the infos since the start of the year. Why God didn't put 36 hours per day:angel:

 thanks again aceman, I didn't realize you did the Canadian race too! ;) as always, very appreciated - If anything I'd say you need a big weekend or a 36 hour day to rest! :p

1. Marie-Eve Pelletier 77 pts. (9 added)
2. Maureen Drake 30.75 pts. (6.75 added)
3. Beier Ko 15 pts. (8 added)

Pretty good weeks for Pelletier and Ko, each reaching 25k quarterfinals, and Maureen picks up some much needed points with a win in Charleston qualifying.

Dubois gets a 25k qualifying win to get .50 points, Marois lost in the maindraw for 1 point, and Soukup lost in the opening round of qualifying and adds on .25 points. Erica Biro also competed this week in 10k Morelia, but lost in the opening round and therefore did not add any points to her total.

Surprising that MArie-Eve is so up in front of the tohers and her ranking is so bad!

I think that these next few months will be crucial for Marie-Eve's ranking - She's done quite well this season so far, and really she has very little to defend. She needs to do better at the other slams in qualifying, and needs to be a bit more consistent (not losing so many early rounds at challengers). If she can do this, then I see no reason why she can't get herself back into the top 150 and maybe even better with some extra luck and confidence.

Marie-Eve has nothing to defend until next year....If only she could qualify for another tier 3,4,5 or win a round in Toronto or Quebec, i ee her in the top 150 easily! She needs good challenger wins!

If you don't qualify in a 10K, you don't receive bonus points .

But at least, you spotted Diana 0.25 points.;) They were not added in WTA rankings. I didn't check if they corrected in following weeks.

I remember 2 years ago, they gave 1 doubs point to Renata Kolbovic when it was Monika whomade it :(

that's annoying for Monika, a good win and nothing to show for it :(

I wish Diana would play again :fiery:

A couple of questions.....
1) I thought challenger points dont count. So most of them should start from ZERO.:)
2) How many more points does Marie-Eve have to get in order to clinch?:)
