Well... Clearly shows that Elena always have problems to play against Nadia!!!
But after her win over Venus, will that help Elena mentally and boost her confidence to play against Nadia this time?

Elena always has a chance, although Nadia seems much fresher.

Elena always has a chance, so I wish her the best of luck! :)

I think Petrova in 2 sets as she plays solid tennis in these two weeks :)

Why did Petrova beat Dementieva all the time? I think it was the other way round in the final of the Orange Bowl one year when Dementieva won 3/6, 6/4, 6/0... Not really sure! Did Dementieva beat Petrova in all their junior matches and now Petrova is able to gain revenge?

hm, i am not sure. based on H2H and the way nadia has been playing this tournament (just blowing her opponents away), i'd have to say advantage nadia. plus elena could be tired after the match with venus. on the other hand, she must feel really good after such a victory and confidence goes a long way.

Look at Nadia's stats folks. The only thing that will stop that whirlwind is an outbreak of respect for Russian rank.

I think that Petrova has more chances to win. But I'll keep my faith in Elena. She too has chances.

My heart wants Elena to win but I think Nadia has the edge and the better serve...

Hmmm....two things going against Elena D: the h2h against Nadia, plus the fact that almost everytime people suffer let-downs after a big win. Think Shaugnessy last year, Vera Z and even Lisa...but she looked really good yesterday against Venus, so she may be in for something.

Petrova is definitely playing better and I think she is the better player anyway, so she will win.

I'm rooting hard for Dementieva to win this big match against Petrova. But I expect Petrova to win the match in straight sets.

I expect Petrova to win. She just has more game than Elena.

I have no idea who will win. Elena is a fighter. Nadia has more weapons. Both are at their career highest ranking right now.
And both can get to L.A. if they stay healthy.

Could be a great match. I think Nadia finds it easier to attack Elena's weak serve because she has textbook mechanics on the return and groundies so she is able to punish weak balls consistently.

i go wit Dementieva....she NEVER gives up..has best courage and fighting spirit...and petrova has breezed but probably hasnt been tested and dementieva will frustrate her and win

Nadia is going through the draw SERENA STYLE easilily dispatching her opponents beating players Maria K Loit molik Dechy scores like 6-2 6-2, 6-1 6-3

COMON NADIA SHOW THAT GIRL HOW GOOD U ARE AND TEACH HER FOR PUTTING DOWN VENUS

I'm starting to chang eth eplayer I'm rooting for. Nadia if she wins this is guaranteed to play well against Serena, and a Russian winning this one is my dream. I like Lena, but I'm not sure that she can win 3 underdog matches in a row.

Nadia's got too many weapons for Elena to handle. Nadia in two sets...

They started by exchanging breaks. That's the only way Elena knows how to play.

Elena doesn't even deserve a 5 on her serve.:o

Elena doesn't even deserve a 5 on her serve.:o
Yes she deserves. Her second serve is probably 3 out of 10, but her first serve is quite solid and probably 7 out of 10. So it is 5 in average.

Shouldn't how often you get your first serves in determine that as well?:o

nadia has better groundies than elena?!?!?!?!?!
elena has maybe THE best groundstrokes in the wta-- the only reason she's ranked low is because of her serve...

Elena breaks on love 3*-2 . So much for having a great serve Nadia

Great serve can be neutralised by a great return. Dementieva probably has the best return in the game. With her serve she would not have been ranked that high otherwise.

Like Amelia Island last year looks like this year Miami has Elena 's name written all over it. Holds easily to make it 4-2

In the first set Nadia was 1 out of 5 on breakpoint opportunities. Elena 2 out of 3.
