I'm under the understanding that Lindsays Scotsdale points will fall off- then whoever does better out of Martina and Kim will take over the number 3 spot.
Someone can correct on that, but thats what I read in another thread.

Yup, the number 3 spot is up for grabs soon.
What competiton!! I wish Lindsay were here, then we have 5 competitors with a few points of each other, clawing at each other ;) :D

When you take off the points of Scottsdale of last year,
this will be the points when Kim & Martina enter Scottdale next week:
So Lindsay will drop to 5 and Kim & Martina will play for the no.3 spot :)
Go Kim :bounce:

this is rather assuming martina will get 9 points from scottsdale
which of course she will
but just pointing that out

Congrats Kim! :D :D I hope she'll be ready to play in Scottsdale.

Yay for kim but   for Martina!

Good news for us Martina fans is that Kim beat Martina last year at Indian Wells and made it to the finals which means she will have many more points to defend at Indian Wells than Smartina! I would be surprised if as the year goes on Kim can keep up with Martina. Not because Kim is not a wonderful player but I think Martina is gonna pull away from Kim and then threaten Jennifer and Venus. GO SMARTINA GO!!!:D

Yay for Kimmie!!!! :bounce: This is going to be a great year for her, it's going to be good to see some competition in the rankings!!
Feb 19th, 2002, 04:19 PM
Yes, Kim has a lot of points to defend at Indian Wells, but she(s playing even better this year, so she has many tournaments where she can go further than last year, like Scottsdale.
So glad that Kim finally reached that top-4!!!
:bounce: :) :) :) :bounce:

Feb 19th, 2002, 07:12 PM
I hope she can be #3 the following week.
Feb 19th, 2002, 07:28 PM
I'm glad to see little kimmy at #4 now! forget the #5, davenport being sidelined until at least FO, Kim Clijsters will stay at least #4 for a while! Great achievement for someone who started 2001 outside the top10!!!! I'd love to see her reach the #3 spot though! All she has to do is go as far as Hingis in the tournament or beat her if they're in the same half of the draw!!!!!

WD KIM!!! :)
Poor Marti!

Good to see Kim will rise a spot in next week's rankings.. but, I want to see her back fighting for that ranking instead of taking advantage of other's mishaps! ;)

WAY TO GO FOR THE BELGIAN BOMBER!
Feb 19th, 2002, 09:51 PM
I hope she plays again soon so that she can take that #3 ranking!
Feb 19th, 2002, 09:55 PM
That's great!:bounce: :bounce: Congrats, Kim!
btw On VRT-teletext they say that Kim is leaving to the USA for playing 3 tournaments! Her injury isn't totally healed, but with her doctors she decided to take a few longer breaks during the season instead of a 3-months break now! So I guess we will see her soon playing again! :)

In dutch (teletekst):
"Kim Clijsters vertrekt zaterdag naar
de VS voor 3 toernooien, melden onze
radiocollega's. Onze landgenote is nog
niet helemaal verlost van haar blessure
aan de rechterbovenarm, maar kan dus
wel spelen. In overleg met de dokter
wordt gekozen voor een aantal langere
rustperiodes tijdens het seizoen, in
plaats van een inactiviteit van drie
maanden. Clijsters komt niet meer uit
in het dubbelspel en krijgt een inten-
sief oefen- en preventieprogramma."
GO KIM :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
