Yay, more pics.

Feb 28th, 2004, 06:27 PM

I'll be there on the first Saturday only  (they are so stupid for moving the tournament back one week cause it used to be during spring break  ), but I'll be taking 100s of pics to k-lina!! :hearts: (and if she makes the finals i'll probably drive over there to watch her and hope someone is selling tickets in the parking lot :o )

Feb 28th, 2004, 06:38 PM
:woohoo: I can't wait!!! Get an autograph and an exclusive interview too, k? :p

Does K-Lina know English? If not, a little Russian possibly?

I'd try talking to her in Charleston then.

Feb 28th, 2004, 06:44 PM
She speaks English. With an accent, and very rushed speaking... but you can talk to her. :bounce:

Feb 28th, 2004, 07:18 PM
Yay. I really want to meet her. :)

I doubt she'll have tons of fans in Charleston, so it shouldn't be too bad. :)

Although, my Russian scrub probably isn't playing, so that may makes things harder.

Feb 28th, 2004, 07:20 PM
Be sure to tell her that we all love her.

Feb 28th, 2004, 09:06 PM
i should tell her about the website... :)

Feb 28th, 2004, 09:12 PM

That'd be mighty great if you would!! :p

Excuse me, but you're not supposed to say that K-Lina sucks in big events. You're the positive person, I'm the negative. :p

Besides, Antwerp was a big event. And her win over Benesova at Wimbly. :p

Mar 21st, 2004, 10:34 PM
:bounce: GO K-LINA!

Forgot your last tournament.

Better? :p

AJMO K-Lina. Draw should be out in about 1-2 hours. As it stands, I don't think she'll be seeded. Which is just fine with me. Maybe she'll be unseeded and draw a big numbered seed (25, 30) in R2. She seems to be so much better when she has to work her way into the draw. This first round bye stuff kinda threw her last time I think. :p

Mar 22nd, 2004, 06:16 PM
I think she'll be 32nd

schnyder, rubin, clijsters, mauresmo, henin-hardenne, and jen (possibly) or either williams sister (possibly) out

Mar 22nd, 2004, 06:19 PM
and davenport is also out

so that's at least 6 making her the 32nd seed

i really hope she gets a good draw

Mar 22nd, 2004, 06:29 PM
32nd seed is ok... I just hope for not an impossible 3rd Round match for her. She's got 45.50 points coming off from 03 Casablanca and Castellon.

Mar 22nd, 2004, 10:43 PM
ok, here's the draw

Sprem bye
Vakulenko vs. Q
Vento-Kabchi vs. Q

4th rd. vs. Kuznetsova

that's tough. vakulenko is very talented and hits the ball hard. if she's on fire k-lina will be in trouble. sugiyama is probably a good third round match for k-lina cause she's one of the weaker top ten players and will allow k-lina to dictate play.

Ack... Julia is a bad 2nd round matchup. If Julia plays well, she probably beats K-Lina. :bigcry:

However, drawing Ai was great luck. :)

Mar 22nd, 2004, 11:50 PM
I'm confident about her matchups to R4. Ajmo!

Mar 26th, 2004, 11:03 PM
K-lina cruised! 6-1 6-2 over Lee-Waters :D

Next up is Vento-Kabchi. I think K-lina beat Maria a few weeks ago, but Maria is on fire this week so it will be tough!

Mar 27th, 2004, 08:37 AM
Good luck Karolina!!

Mar 27th, 2004, 02:05 PM
:yeah: K-lina nice convincing win! :woohoo:

Mar 27th, 2004, 02:16 PM
:bounce: Keep it up!!

Mar 28th, 2004, 01:29 AM
Court 3 - 11:00 AM Start
1. Martin Garcia (ARG)/Mariano Hood (ARG) vs Simon Aspelin (SWE)/Massimo Bertolini (ITA)
2. Nadia Petrova (RUS) [8] vs Emilie Loit (FRA) [32]
3. Karolina Sprem (CRO) [29] vs Maria Vento-Kabchi (VEN)

Mar 28th, 2004, 01:43 AM
i didn't see k-lina today (despite going by the practice courts a whole bunch of times)

court 3's nice, it's really small. wish i could go watch...

Mar 28th, 2004, 11:11 AM
 I really wish the schedule would have worked out for you. Didyou have a good time anyway?

Mar 28th, 2004, 01:04 PM
yes :)

Mar 28th, 2004, 08:53 PM
K-lina enjoyed two easy sets after losing the first 4-6 today :)

final score was 4-6 6-3 6-0 :)

she served at an amazing 95% in the final set (only missing one first serve - and she double faulted on that point :o )

Mar 29th, 2004, 12:57 AM
Great win for Karolina. She had me worried in the first set but she finished in style. It's a shame she plays Sveta in the next round since Sveta is my other favorite in the draw. It's too bad that one of them will have to lose. Good luck to both girls. I hope it is a great match.

Mar 29th, 2004, 04:05 AM
Good luck Karolina!!

Mar 29th, 2004, 11:55 PM
K-lina won! She saved 2 match points and was down 2-4 in the third!

3-6 7-5 6-4!!!!

I'm shocked!! Amazing win!!

I jinxed her! :fiery:

Mar 31st, 2004, 01:56 PM
Too bad. A dissapointing performance from Karolina. I was so looking forward to seeing her on TV. She may have been nervous playing her first night match on a stadium court. These big events are all still new for her since she has come so far in the last year. Let's hope she has learned from her experience here and will do well at Amelia Island.

Mar 31st, 2004, 06:38 PM
yes i also wanted to see her on tv  dissapointed again...
