OMG I just saw it on eurosport.

Out of 6 top 10 players anounced at some point, only one will have actually competed.
Luckily, it was the one the people in Antwerp want to see most;)

Where would the tournament be if Clijsters wouldn't be playing?

Henin pulls out of Antwerp

Belgian world number one Justine Henin-Hardenne has withdrawn from the WTA Antwerp tournament due to a respiratory problem, organisers said on Thursday. Follow our LIVE coverage from 12 noon and on Eurosport TV from 13:30 cet!

"She is not playing, I just learned it from the WTA," tournament organiser Bob Verbeeck said.

Henin-Hardenne had been due to play her opening match against Czech Denisa Chladkova in the second round on Thursday after being given a late start to help her recover from a throat infection.

Defending champion Venus Williams, the third seed, pulled out of the event at the weekend with a knee injury. Henin's withdrawal leaves her second-seeded compatriot Kim Clijsters as the favourite.

Haters must be happy now! ;)On the contrary. I think haters must be confused.

They can no longer claim that Justine was pretending and using the cold as an excuse to throw off her opponents, so they must now regroup and come up with something else, which I am sure won’t take long ;)

Get well soon Justine !

By the way, didn’t Dani retire with respiratory problems as well ?

Proximus Diamond Games: Justine withdraws

19/02/2004: http://www.henin-hardenne.be/bin/graphics/printer.gif (http://www.henin-hardenne.be/bin/shownewsprt.asp?lang=en&id=1379)

Justine was forced to withdraw from the tournament. Nevertheless, she’s rather fond of the Proximus Diamond Games. That’s why she waited till the last minute to withdraw.

http://www.henin-hardenne.be/bin/newspics/pic028.jpgIt was a very tough decision. I really waited till the last moment to decide. For a couple days now, it was clear to my husband and coach that I wouldn’t play today. Yesterday eveing, I had a long conversations with my doctors who told me that I would have to recover several weeks if I made a mistake this week.

I have respitoral problems. I feel a lot weaker and tired now. It’s hard for me to accept it, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I don’t want to make the same mistake again as I did on Roland Garros two years ago, I felt the same then and I played, but it didn’t pay off…”

Justine’s fans aren’t very pleased with the news ofcourse. They had ordered numerous tickets already.
I’m really sorry for my fans, I know that they were waiting impatiently until I would have to play. I really wanted to take part in this tournament, beacause it’s always fun playing for your own crowd. But I have to be honest with myself, it’s a matter of having respect for me and for my fans. Two years ago, I could never have made such a decision, but I can’t play if I have to play with 50% of my capacities. I’m truly sorry for the organisation and for my fans.

Get well soon, Justine! She should be fine for Dubai!

Points to defend, Baby!
