Jenn hasn't moved nor Elena D.. Venus and Serena have practically switched places. Significantly Hingis is gone and Seles Kournikova with big drops due to long abcenses.

It's almost unbelievable for some of them.

look at the quality and the name power of that top 15. The top 7 and # 10 slam champions, plus # 14, throw in Kournikova and Mauresmo and you've got an incredible group of players.

Wow. That shows how much turnover there is in a short period of time.
I think in three more years, a bunch of young players like Strycova will be top 50.

And speaking of Hingis, she did a half hour interview with the Tennis Channel. It airs on Sunday.

Sugiyama has since really taken care of her ranking- good for her. Nice to see Iva Majoli in the top 50, I surely do miss the days she was playing some quality ball. Even though she was in the top 50 at that time it was sorta the end of her quality finishes.

Even more amazing is how Kim and Justine have developed together, they have never been too far away from the each other in rankings and their accomplishments. Kim should have won one of those slams.

Well... maybe Anna actually knows how to play tennis :silly: Who would have thought!

Kournikova was a good player then :D

Feb 20th, 2004, 03:14 PM
kournikova was pretty consistent back then

she reached the semis in NY , then quarters in Melbourne, semis in Tokyo and was leading Amelie in Paris before getting injured...

15 (15) HUBER, ANKE GER 1625.00:sad: I remember being told of Anke's retirement via E-mail in 2001 by a very lovely friend - I gave this very sharp intake of breath!! HUUUUUUUUHHHHH!! I made people turn to look at me... :o I was in an Internet Café at the time...

I still miss her - I hope she is happy with her life away from tennis...

Ankeholic forever!! :D ;)

just goes to tell you how things can change, ever since Jen won her Australian Open, the tour had never been the same since, Martina's retirement constrasting Serena's domination, the rise of the Belgians sisters and Russian teenagers forcing the veterans falling, just everything is so different, oh well:(

bandabou
Mar 3rd, 2004, 07:56 PM
Serena´s domination would have happened regardless.....Martina sure wouldn´t have been the one stopping her.
