good luck anyways... i KNOW, could bet my life on it that i wouldnt lose in doubles 0-6, 0-6 first round... im a good doubles player, but isngles i tend to choke and get nervous on serve

i played one match and i served for it at 6-4, 2-6, 5-4 and again at 6-5, losing serve at love both times lol

i lost that match 4-6, 6-2, 7-6(4)

I know how you feel...On Sunday I played a match for fun and lost 6-2, 3-6, 6-7(5). At 5-5 in the breaker I missed a backhand that was set up for anyone to kill. I was really ticked.

if were telling other stoires.. me and 7 other friends played a singles tournament and a doublestournament one day because i had a block party

i was seeded first in singles, and in order to get all the matches played we just play one set.. i won my first matdch 6-0, but then i faced my friend who is tall and bulky (but not fat), so you would think he would play with heavey hitting power... however he plays with spins and two forehands ... drop shots followed by lobs (the kind of player every hates facing)

anyway, he goes up to a 4-2 lead... i get it to 4-4... he wins the next game (5-4) and i serve to stay in the match... he had 5 set points and i saved them all before i lost it... i was so pissed lol

anyway.. me n my partner won the doubles w/o dropping a game in both matches lol

Pff!!! It sucked so bad! :(

I didn't play agressive I had so many double faults and many unforced errors. I really have forgotten how to play competitive tennis.

In my first match I just kept hitting so many double faults I usually rely on breaking and this guy had a crappy serve but I just kept hitting the ball out. I was soooooooo out of rhythm is sucked. I got my bro to copy down the score so I could report her the score went something like this

Alex - Opponent

0-0*
0*-1
0-2*
0*-3
0-4*
1*-4
1-5*
1*-6

It was a pretty crappy match and I lost it 6-1. It really sucked.

My second match it was like 10 minutes afterwards and I was really upset at myself. Anyway we started warming up and the guy hit really bad shots and what not so I was so excited to actually win.

 I hit like 20 DF's 500 UE and just was so damn tenative

Alex - Opponent

0-0*
0*-1
0-2*
0*-3
0-4*
1*-4
1-5*
1*-6

So yet again I lost 6-1  I was so frustrated but of course I didn't show it out on court or I would get on trouble. BY THE WAY THE SURFACE was rebound ace I loved it but I still loss.

Because of time constraints I was then moved on to Carpet which I love. So I decided you know what that I had nothing to lose and go for everything here was the score:

Alex - Opponent

0-0*
1*-0
1-1*
1*-2
2-2*
2*-3
2-4* I WAS UP 40-0  :fiery:
2*-5
3-5* I almost choked here 40-0 to 40-30

GSM: 6-3.

This match was a game I should have won! It was sudden deuces and that really screwed me over. I played really agressive and finally figured out how to play match!

Sorry I dissapointed you guys!

Tomorrow I will be playing in a tennis ladder, I'm starting to re-boot my tennis career. Then on Sunday I do my regular stuff and then on Monday I am trying out for the Toronto Tennis Academy. Then on the coming Saturday I have another tournament which I will write a report about as well!

Thanks so much for your support! Sorry if I disappointed you! :( But I'll try not to tomorrow and the coming days!

I save like 5 MP's and still went down. It's really disappointing because I mean this person didn't have much and yet I still lost. I really have to work on my serve. So I booked a court tomorrow for 2 hours to pracitsie my serve...And then on Monday I'm trying out for this Academy and on Tuesday I'm playing another match on the ladder.

Feb 21st, 2004, 07:03 PM
Hey Alex-

At first glance I thought you won since you listed it as Alex vs. Opponent (I thought your scoreline read the same way with you first followed by your opponent,) but upon further examination I see you didn't pull it out. Stay at it bro and in no time you'll hit ur stride, turn the tide, and be on the winning side- in no time.

When I'm on the court I'm one of those guys that's always in control of the ralleys and constantly hitting winners left in right in 'practice' but once we "officially" start 9 out of 10 times I find myself on the losing end. And the lower quality the opponent I face the better my chance are of lossing- for some strange reason...

I have the same probem as you Stef. It is all mental
Yep, it's totally mental. I remember I was playing this one guy and he was ranked #1 in the little tournament I was playing at and believe it or not I was playing really well. I was up 5-1 and 30-0 and I'm sure you can guess what happened.... I lost!!!! I remember after he broke I kept thinking to myself, "wouldn't it be a shame if I ended up losing". I know I shouldn't have been thinking that but I was and then as it went to 5-3 to 5-4 I knew I was going to lose. I tried my best to stay positive but I've since realized I'm just a total mental case and I don't know how to combat it. I consider myself an aggressive player (in practice anyway,) but when it comes to match time my racket feels like it weighs a ton and I hit the ball so softly. I feel like I have to force myself to be aggressive and it's just a mess. It's funny cuz during practice most of my opponents comment on how good I am- I just laugh to myself cuz I know what's coming...lol. I'm a total Novotna...

it's ok, it takes a while to get used to competative tennis.

my high school season started :)

we play 5 singles matches and 2 doubles. we beat cape coral 6-1 (i won my match 6-1 6-1 and didn't play doubles cause we already had 4 points secured after the singles). then we played the state champions (naples :fiery: ) and lost 1-6. i actually won my match 6-2 6-3. i was playing on the court next to first singles and tried to get my teammate fired up by letting him know we were still in it (we lost the other three singles in two really quick sets). he ended up losing in 3 after saving like 10 match points in the second. oh well, we'll (hopefully) beat them at districts (we're the only two good teams in our area)...

alextreiber04
Feb 26th, 2004, 11:27 PM
Sigh. Another bad loss. 10-1. I'm just going for everything and my serve its so bleh.

I'm really not used to this competitive tennis anymore, and I've had a stupid ankle injury that keeps hurting whenever I play.

I'll be getting up at 5:30 to play Tennis in the morning tomorrow to work on my serve, I really have no time after school. And then I play a tournament on Saturday which hopefully will be better. I seriously need help with my serve.

Sorry if I'm disappointing any of you but it looks like its going to be a long road back to the Top 50 in the OTA ranks...

Feb 29th, 2004, 03:07 AM
Well Jarett...I'm not usually this bitchy but when someone just taps the ball back they really aren't that good.

Anyway you can't ruin my day because I had a GREAT tournament! :)

I started off the day with a regular routine ass-kicking here was how it went out...oh and by the way it wasn't my DF's this time it was purely my groundstrokes...my serve was really good today I only had about 3 double faults per match (3 for the Round Robin to qualify for the semis)

So here's how it went:

Opponent vs. Alex

Alex to serve:

0-15
0-30

15-40
30-40

Opponent breaks*

If you think Serena Williams was excited when she won the US Open? You should have seen me :p

I was so happy! And I sort of forgot about my choking! My first match win in almost 2 years in an OTA tournament against a player who was really good. I'm super happy.

I've had a great day and I'm going to start thinking about more tennis tournament near the end of March!

Well thats my 2 cents and thanks for all your support guys!

Well congrats on your win! I just think everyone actually out there should be respected. Because for everyone not out there, there is another 100 at home that don't have the guts to go out there and try.

Well for some stupid reason I'm on the OTA ranks....the tournament director at a Feed-Up in January thought I commited over e-mail when I was just asking him about how the tournament worked and what-not. Oh well, yay for No. 135!

(I'm Alex Treiber, go look here :p)
