So, someone please post a translated version of Justine's interview
from Der Morgan (a Belgian newspaper) where she brings up
the topic of how Kimmy is being given "special treatment" in
Antwerp. I'm guessing that this is in reference to Elke being
handed a WC, or is it something else?

Kimmy claims to not know what Justine is talking
about with this "special treatment" comment.

I find this highly amusing, and it gives this week's tournament
a much needed entertainment value.

I assumed that they were playing it as a sort of "friendly"
exhibition type event, since Venus pulled out. I guess not! :tape:

A Tier II tournament and they give a WC to a player who shouldn't even be awarded with a WC into the qualies. Same ting happened in Sydney last year where Lleyton's sister got a MD WC and the cut in the qualies was 32,33.

What? The red satin pants are Tommy Hilfiger? No. I thought she
was giving a nod to all of our 80's musical references. Notice the
black jacket she has on. It just sceams...Duran Duran. ;)

On the Sports.Be website there's a tiny news item that the promoter
of da "diamond" games wants to do a TIER III event in Belgium too.
I guess, Elke's good to go in that tournament too. :haha:

C'mon man, it's a matched ensemble deal, you know, like a sailor-suit. I can't believe three different clothes-makers would make those distinct yet matching top, jacket and pants....She can't wear one without the other two :p and who sponsors her clothes? that's right

Yeah, Justine looks nice...especially compared to some of the other things she has worn off court. I think I'm most annoyed with the open-toe shoes she's wearing.

Kim looks like you could slap her onto the box cover art of one of those BBC TV mini-series that takes place in the lush, green, rural countryside (wait a sec, that's all of them, isn't it?).

DelMonte
Feb 17th, 2004, 07:22 AM
the satin pants, although unusual, are not necessarily bad. it's just difficult to match satin, esp red satin, with another type of fabric. the best choice probably would have been a (small) satin top or (small( jacket); that could have turned the whole outfit into an 'eveningy' sexy number.

what are these open-toe shoes everyone is talking about? :)

Het Laatste Nieuwe mentions the quote again today:

Hommeles natuurlijk.

*****

Translation: "There are a few arrangements here I don't understand, but I don't want to go into the 'regional' ['communautair' refers to Flemish-Walloon problems, usually in politics]" issue."

Other than that, the headline says "I only play Antwerp because it is in Belgium". The article also says she is bothered by the "Clijsters atmosphere" in Antwerp, that she forced a Thursday start because she was not happy with not being consulted about a Wednesday start. That her press conference was very "profesional": 7 questions, 7 answers, 7 minutes. " I have my opinion, I do my thing, what other people think about that, I don't get bothered by anymore."

Full disclose: Het Laaste Nieuws has never been the biggest Justine fan.

Nope. Brussels or Hasselt (=capital of Limburg = near Elke & Kim 's home town ;) )

You know, I'm a big justine fan. i havn't read the article, and it's probably not a big deal. BUT however, I find that there is one thing justine can't complain about, and that is the use of language (DUTCH) during the Antwerp tournament. Antwerp is a Flemish city. People speak Dutch there, that's the way it is. When she plays in America, eople speak English, not French. i agree the torunamentorganisers should make sure veryone understands everything, but the fact that the 'speaker' speaks Dutch and that the children are being welcomed in Dutch etc. is perfectly normal. During the exhibition tournament in Ciney everything was in French, whereas ther were a lot of Flemish fans too.

Again, prolly the press. But as justine said so herself; She should be aware. 'Communautairy' problems (betwen frnech/dutch speakers) are still a very sensitive subject in belgium.

I would like to ask you a question.
Do you think that both Justine and Kim are dressing too causal to the King of Belgium? Because I just can't see that will happening in Britain if two great sportperson going to see the Queen and dressing like that. I think a lot of the people in Britain will be feel disstress about it because formality is very important for thre royal family in Britain.
Is it the Belgium has a very relax attritrue on dressing code?

The reason for the red pants is that she actually wears the begian colors : black ( top ) yellow ( t-shirt ) red ( pants )

And don't really understand why the author of the article says that "There will never be love between Justine and Antwerp". I mean, she did win her first tournament in Antwerp, and got a huge ovation in 2002 final, ...
Also funny how the journalist seems to make a compliment to justine about her "professionnal attitude"; then goes on saying shehas no extra-time for answers. Damn journalists...

And , to PIGAM , Justine didn't complain about people speaking flemish in Antwerp, did she? Try to take a look further when you read articles, look how things are being interpretated for you by someone else, don't get fooled by journalistic techniques of persusion, by the way they invent some "links" between things that aren't linked ( like Justine saying Kim got advantage because of the Verbeek and Clijsters friendship, then saying there is no love between her and Antwerp. That makes you think one is an explanation or the resion of the other, which is not probably not the case )
..............try to make an opinion by yourself instead of letting somebody make it for you

http://www.gotennis.com/Photos/2004-02-16T123659Z_01_BRU02D_RTRIDSP_2_BELGIUM-TENNIS.jpg
Should we called this picture the red glory or "red pants"
In China red is a lucky colour and I know Justine is a superstitious person is she trying her luck by wearing red pants so she could beat Kim in the final?
I still found this is very funny
:haha:

That makes you think one is an explanation or the resion of the other, which is not probably not the case )
..............try to make an opinion by yourself instead of letting somebody make it for you
Euhm, excusez moi!
Read my post again before you see a huge attack against JHH. I said it's probably the press making a thing out of it. In a way, it's normal that Antwerp is closer to Kim than Justine, just like Ciney is much closer to Justine. That doesn't mean Kim should get privileges. I'm only saying 'les problèmes communautaires' are still a very sensitive subject, and your post proves me right. :)

arent they probably just like everyone else
for instance, i have this guy at my tennis-club that was just as good/bad as me. We were from 11 years old on always in the final of the men/s championships. We played against each other everyday. He played with slice/spin, pretty just like justine
I played hard/a little less classic, like Kim. We were from a farmer-town, and he was the town-fav boy. Beer-drinking, low education, always nice to everyone. I was a studying, girly faggy weirdo and eventhough i talked a lot it wasnt always nice.

Where is he going with this, you probably think well here it comes.

We respected each other. like Kim/justine
When i came out of the closet, he was still playing tennis to me and being nice, eventhough that wasn't very good for his image. My sister even heard that some people wouldnt play the big tournament anymore agter i told i was gay, cause it was to painful to lose against afaggy. The first year they did like to play against me cause they though al of a sudden my tennislevels would have to be on an extremely lower leve all of a sudden. It did not work that way, with as a result somebody saying our town was pathetic/devilish, cause a ****** was the best in tennis. When the other tennisplayer fucked a married woman nobody liked him for a while. To me it did not really matter that much in this situation.

And here is the key-point. Kim/justine were always the best in their country, then Belgian girls. We the Saasveld-boys(name of tennisclub). If people would ask us a bit about the other we would be nice/polite and people sometimes assumed we were really buddies(like Kim/Justine). We werent at all though. It was just the same town/tennis that would be something we bonded in. For the rest not even a slightest other thing. And if people then go on and ask and ask i mght say something like well i think in general you should stay away of a married woman with kids. He would probably not understand why i prefer the fuck guys instead of girls. And then people would be saying we were enemies.
So far my therapeutical session and my proving that they are no friends and no enemies, just belgian's best tennisplayers(except Elke then ofcourse)
Funny and reality is that i have a twin-brother, who was always a little behind us. And eventhough he was a really excellent player got annoyed by always being compared to me and people never even recognized his qualities because he just always was numer 2 or 3. In doubles though he was really good and we were unbeatable like elke/kim will be. He at the net/very good touch, me just baning every ball back as hard as i could. Just realised we are the male/dutch equivalents of Kim/Elke
Hurrah, Hurrah

Greenout, I get it now. :p

The Justinator is one of Sandrine's loyal cronies(henchmen). I
bet if she were to ask for Juju to fetch her a cup of black Arabic
coffee from the table because she's busy SMS-ing baby/child
care feeding instructions on her mobile phone from DUBAI to
her home. The Justinator would sprint over to the table
quicker, than you could say "that ball looked out!" to get it. :haha:

*I've seen the pics. The Justinator always looks like she's
sucking up to Sandrine and laughing at her jokes. Hmm...
does that to Amelie too. The French just lording it over
Wallonia. :tape:

Actually. It wasn't my original thought about the Justinator being
Sandrine's henchmen, Viggen brought it up. There were a couple
of pics that they were in together and I thought yeah, she's looks to be
sucking up, trying to hang out with the cool "French Girls". :haha:

I don't know if you've seen Amelie play Justine recently on tv
at the ADIDAS International; but it's quite interesting. The Justinator
doesn't try to slow down Amelie when she's about to serve. Shock!
Gulp!, Horror! The Justinator actually tried to receive according to
the pace of Amelie (the server) Gasp!! Double Gasp! There's alot
of respect there. Another example would be the practice pics from
the WTA Championships where the Justinator is hitting Amelie.
There one pic where looks to have said something and the Justinator
is looking at her as if she said or thinking "Your so Smart Amelie!".
Again, oddly very respectful.

:haha:

Oops..........misunderstanding in the air!!!! I don't think you really get what i meant right. Because i know there was no attack from you to Justine, but i saw someone who got confused by the way the article was written. I mean , you said you couldn't understand how Justine could complained about people speaking flemish in Antwerp, while she didn't say anything like that at all. The reason you thought this is because that's where the journalist wanted you to go.
So don't go like "i can make my own opinion" because NO ONE can, you have no idea how the power of peopel 'influence on the others. No one has a independant mind on this planet.
Btw, i 'm very suprised at your "vehemente" reaction, because you're actually one of my fav posters on this board

It must be her chest. A little Lolo Ferrari wouldn't look bad on Miss Chest like a 10year-old boy who just got bitten by 2 musquitos. Seriously, they are so small, that they draw all attention to them. Already feel sorry for the kids she might breast-feed

Fermons cette discussion. justine fans should stick together.

Well I'm working in Antwerp this week and I can assure you guys that it's always Clijsters. Bob V. is the financial manager form Kim and co and very close to the family. Justine is threated as the number 2 in Belgian not as the number one in the world. I can't tell everything I hear but things as:

(at the Kids-day)
Damn so many kids here when Justine's playing who's that possible?

They still don't get that Justine is also populair in the Flemish part of Belgium.

It's hard to be a Justine-fan in Antwerp but I'll surveive it :)

It's people like this that make me want Justine to win so badly everysingle match she plays, especially here in Flanders.Justine attracted 4000-6000 kids to her clinic, not even the Clijsterssisters got those numbers two years ago when they gave aclinic (1000-2000 kids)Hopefully Justine wil be able to win this tournament in front of the 15,000 people there will be Sunday.
