..... so 'play a child's game with me'.

Listed below is the top 25 as listed at Tenniscorner.net. Please go down this list and tell me which player, if they played TOMORROW, would have a 50-50 chance of beating a player ranked ahead of them. Which player and why?

01 7001 Henin-Hardenne
02 6616 Clijsters
03 3353 Mauresmo
04 3050 Davenport
05 2651 Capriati
06 2584 S Williams
07 2457 Myskina
08 2340 Sugiyama
09 2300 Rubin
10 2270 Dementieva
11 1967 Petrova
12 1882 Zvonareva
13 1601 Suarez
14 1449 Dokic
15 1356 Schiavone
16 1351 V Williams
17 1340 Schnyder
18 1309 Smashnova-Pistolesi
19 1303 Farina Elia
20 1246 Martinez
21 1197 Maleeva
22 1153 Serna
23 1071 Sharapova
24 1055 Zuluaga
25 1054 Dechy

To my mind, if no one is capable of beating players ranked ahead of them, then the tour is boring. Keep in mind also the difference between TV covergae in the States vs Europe (vs Asia vs Africa). If you get to see a lot of early round matches, the tour may still seem a fascinating and surprising entity. If all you see are semis and finals, maybe the outcome seems very predictable. That doesn't make the TOUR boring. That makes media coverage inadequate.

I don't think people have been saying the tour is boring because no one can't beat a player ranked above them. People are saying the tour is boring because the players in this list who can usually beat players above them like Serena, Venus, Jennifer, Mauresmo and Monica are just not playing a lot recently and it has become a Belgian winner every week. Don't see it changing in Antwerp either. When these players are back fit and challenging it won't be boring.

One of my faves is playing week in and week out and winning twice as many matches as she loses. It's all good!

I'm not bored :) So far,the Belgians (Kim and Justine  )have entered in 3 tournaments and each one of them ended with them being winners. With Justine winning the most important one :worship:
Bored? Not at all ;)

The "tour" is not boring... though it's the players ranked outside the top 10 who are making it interesting. Antwerp is probably the least interesting tournament this week, and that includes the Challengers. I'm far keener on following the emergence of Nicole Vaidisova at the Columbus $25k, for instance, than in seeing Kim beat up whoever in pursuit of yet another non-Slam title.

The top 10 need to get their act together, to be honest... even apart from the injuries, they're all mental midgets apart from Justine and Serena. We complain that the top players never play each other, but the truth is that 90% of the time they do, the result is predictable and the standard of play excruciatingly bad - see Justine v Lindsay, Kim v Nastya, Justine v Kim this year alone.

Does 'predictable' = 'boring'?

The non stop injuries are boring.I think the tour needs to bring in an exorcist.

Look at Clijsters, Henin and Davenport. And even Mauresmo. Boring, boring, boring and boringWho is or isn't considered boring is a matter of opinion!

Put this way, can you imagine any of these combinations in one tournament, Serena vs Seles, Capriati vs Amelie, Venus vs Justine, Kim vs Hingis, Davenport vs Serena, if all were at their best, you couldn't even choose which one to watch first. This could have been our reality today if it weren't for injuries. Throw Myskina and Dokic into the mix as well. We can only hope.

It's not boring. However, I'm much more interested in Memphis and challengers this week instead of Antwerp.
