we all know being in the zone is when your subconcious mind takes over and you don't think about anything at all , it's like watching yourself play AMAZING tennis and being IN THE ZONE allows you to hit unbelievable shots...when a player basically is at the TOP And PEAK of their game and in their zone......

which players at which match would you say experienced this?

One of the joys of current WTA tennis is the number of players who are really impressive when in zone - look at the top 20 and think what most of them can play like and add the others like Mary P, Maggie M and probably most of the rising stars in a year or two. The problem is the number of people who can get there when they need to.

Davenport d. Schnyder 6-1, 6-1 Amelia Island '03

Pierce d. Graf RG '94 :hearts:

Raymond was flawless in many a doubles match, most recently (that I saw) was the Philadelphia '03 finals with Navratilova. :)

Serena against Hingis uso 2001
Kim against most players is virtually unbeatable, there is no shot for which she has no answers.

That was amazing. Also the Lindsay thrashings of Els at the US Open 1r in 2003 6-1 6-0 and of Dokic at Tokyo 6-1 6-0. She can still really bitchslap people when she is it the zone.

Serena had some very impressive in the zone-perfomances and most of them against TOP players.

Against Momo at ´02 Wimbledon: 6-2 6-1
Against Dani at the ´02 u.s.open: 6-2 6-2
and Against Lindsay at the ´01 IW: 6-1 6-2.( No wonder Linds was crancky!!)

Look at those scores man. That´s against top 10, sometimes even top 5 and they can only muster FOUR games at most!!

I'm thinking Lindsay -vs- Hingis 1998 USO
Lindsay -vs- Steffi WIMBLEDON 1999

I was in awe during these 2 finals. We're talking Hingis and Steffi
here; yet they couldn't even get a rally going. LD made them look
like round 1 grand slam fodder. The games were gone in a blink
of the eye too.

Yeah, That Lindsay match at Amelia Island last year was incredible. I honestly didn't know who was going to stop her at that tournament. Patty was LUCKY to get those 2 games.

Greenout. The difference in the wim 99 match was made in two games (at the start and at 5:5 second set) and Steffi had gamepoints in both. The statistics say so too, Lindsay made three more points. Of course tennis is about the big points and Lindsay was clearly better on them that day so was the better player, but it wasn't that Steffi couldn't get a rally on. If that had been the case and thinking how amazing Lindsay served then it had been 6:0 6:0

and of course Steffi who had been busy the night before (that when you believe Mac;)) j/k

Maybe your correct. :haha: I haven't seen the a tape of the final
in years; but it was still pretty strange how simple it all seemed
when watching it live. I remember expecting a very big struggle
ala the 1998 WTA Championships match and their match at
Philly. :)

Oh. You just had to bring that particular match up, didn't
you. :haha: I felt sorry for Zhoo-steen. She looked like a little
lost kid in a mega mall about to burst into tears, or
she was busted shoplifting in the candy department. ;)

She played a nice second set, but unfortunately Venus was having it in the third set. Fun was over for Juju then.
