The second leg has started with the tournaments in Doha and Antwerp. :)
As I’ve already mentioned, in the first leg the qualifying round included too many posters, 27 for only 8 available spots. In order to give everyone a fair chance to compete in the main draw, I’ve decided to enlarge the size of the draw and to reduce the number of posters in the qualies. :)
53 persons have signed up for this event.
48 out of these 53 posters will be able to enter the main draw, with:
:) 32 direct entries, including 16 seeds with a first round bye
:) 8 wild cards, assigned to the best 8 combinations of the previous tournament
:) 8 qualifiers out of the remaining 13
No rule changes for the qualifying round, the best 8 combinations go through. Only 5 posters will fail to qualify for the main draw, this should be fair enough. :)

Buttercup and Ayla have the same amount of points, but Buttercup scored a better combination and so is the 4th seed ahead of Ayla, #5. :)
A tie for Tennisace and Jacs too, and with the very same combination. Jacs sneaks in as the 16th seed thanks to the higher value of his spare cards. :)
Same score for Aloysius and Dahveed too; but a better combination for Aloysius, who gets the last direct entry spot. :)
All the other ties were not important for the position in the draw.

Hi Rachel! :wavey:
Good luck for this second leg! :bounce:
Croat123,
in brief:
:) you have chosen 5 tennis players
:) these players are given a card value according to their performance in the WTA Tour tournaments
:) your 5 cards give a combination which is ranked according to the traditional poker rules
:) your result is compared to the ones by the other posters to decide the outcome of the Tennis Poker leg
If you have any question feel free to ask.
Thank you, good luck! :wavey:

2nd leg spare cards
22 - Lisa Raymond
28 - Rita Grande
29 - Cristina Torrens-Valero
30 - Anne Kremer
31 - Tatiana Panova
36 - Marlene Weingartner
37 - Elena Likhovtseva
39 - Lina Krasnoroutskaya
These are the 16 higher ranked players who haven't been chosen. This means that all the top 50 are now involved in the game, together with other 13. :)
This group of 63 players for the 2nd leg doesn't include Kapros, Kruger and Molik anymore, while Frazier, Medina-Garrigues, Myskina, Pratt, Serra-Zanetti, Smashnova and Sucha join in for the first time this year. :)
It will take a bit to write down all the spare card assignments, I'll probably be able to post everything only next week. But I've already made the draw; if you're so curious that you simply can't wait, just ask. ;)

i'm feeling very good about my chances, Venus did very well and Serena won a tournament :D

CanIGetaWhat,
your combination is:
S.Williams / V.Williams / Capriati / Hingis / Hantuchova
A / A / K / J / 3
Good and consistent, but it lacks that special extra little bit to let you go very far in the tournament. I'm confident you'll beat the qualifier in your first round match, but a 2nd round defeat against Tim Wilson (at this stage the eventual winner of the whole leg) seems very likely.
Hopefully the complete update will be ready later today.

Per4ever,
your current result is:
Henin / Dementieva / Hingis / Clijsters Myskina / Dokic
K / Q / J / 10 / 5
Not very good, but they are all playing in Indian Wells, so you have great chances to improve. :)

I dread to ask but how is my team doing, can i defeat the king that is Tim Wilson:)
DoctorG
Mar 5th, 2002, 01:52 PM
Rightous,
At this stage:
Nagyova Raymond / V.Williams / Seles / Hingis / Shaughnessy
A / A / A / J / 5
I didn't find Nagyova in the Indian Wells draw, so the replacement with Raymond should be definitive. I guess you don't mind about that. ;)
Tim has scored a full house, if you get another Ace thanks to Hingis or Shaughnessy you would score four of a kind and that would be enough to beat him. By now, I would just thank that he's not in your draw quarter. :)

S.Williams / V.Williams / Capriati / Hingis / Hantuchova

Martina and Daniela are both in the finals, what cards will i own now?
S. Williams/V. Williams/Hingis-Hantuchova/Hingis-Hantuchova/Capriat
A/A/A/K/K?
