Peanut Louie Harper sounded like something out of the first draft of a white supremacist's novel.

Marie-Gaiané/Gayané/Gaianeh/Gayanay  Mikaelian may be the only 20-year-old who still can't spell her own name.

I always thought Tamarine Tanasugarn was funny, because a tamarin is a small South American monkey.

Rossana de los Rios is a beautiful name, but Neffa-de los Rios sounds like somebody sneezed.

Lioudmila Skavronskaia must have hated her name as a kindergartener. Same for Gulnara Fattekhetdinova, Archana Venkatharaman, Natallia Dziamidzenska, Edita Liachoviciute, Margalita Chakhanashvili, Oana-Elena Golimbioschi, Aurelija Miseviciute, and Akgul Amanmuradova. Napaporn Tongsalee is pretty, but if she'd gone to high school here, "Napaporn" would have been considered hilarious. Van den Hurk sounds like someone's vomiting- poor Andrea.

I LOVE the name Eleni Daniilidou. I find it beautiful. But the surname actually works well for the Hamsterdance- "Da-nii-da-nii-li-dou-dou, Da-nii-Daniilidou!"

There are so many great WTA names out there. :worship:

"Archana Venkatharaman"

this name sounds really normal to me. archana has a good meaning too. it has got something to do with the process of praying. when hindus pray, and they circle the oil lamp around the alter, that means archana...or something like that. i have a friend called venkatharaman. and a few friends called archana.

Some names can sound really funny when "translated" into other languages. For example, in Serbian, Navratilova means "the one who stands at the door" or "the one who comes by". Kournikova is even weirder, better not translate it though. ;)
