View Full Version : Why won't STEVENSON enter any ITF tourneys to get back on track ?

Its amazing to me that she is not entered in ANY of the upcoming 50k and 75k tourneys in the US...i mean does she think she is too good to go back down to the ITFs for a few weeks ??
I am not a huge fan at all..BUT...it would make the most sense to get some court time and get some matches in rather than keep LOSING in the 1st rds and qualifying...?? :tape:

as well as the fact that she is still living off a fluke semifinal appearance at wimbledon from 1999.... five years ago

you get way more money by losing in the first round of a Tier II instead of losing in the first round of a 50K, so that pretty much explains everything. ;)

LMAO...do u really think she would have hard time against a player in a 1st rd 50K that is ranked around 200 ??? :tape:

Didn't she play a grass challenger like 2-3 years ago and lose in like the QF or SF?

Hmm not to sure...i mean HOW much lower is she going to fall before someone pulls her aside and sit her down about this....you even see players like Reeves and Brandi that 20-30 spots higher up still taking part in USA challengers..i mean even if she just won a few rds she would get some points and play in.. Do u think she could take Brandi ?

She did play it - and there was a big fuss about it because her ranking was way too high to play a 25K... She wanted an extra week of preparation on grass, but because of rain the tournement was played indoor. :o
Where is she getting the points from to even be at 89 in the world ?? I havn't seen her win a match in months..do u think she will keep playing untill she ABSOLUTLY has to play 10k challengers and fight it out with Kristen Shukleber ?

Her "coach's" head is so far up her ass that she can't see that her daughter isn't WTA level right now, and is probably telling Alex to continue playing bigger tourneys.

I don't see why Stevenson should play ITF tournements... Even if she gets a couple of wins against player ranked outside the top 100, it's not really what she needs. I wasn't really kidding in my first post, I do think she would probably lose early if she would play 50K or 75K. When she's off, her opponent ranking doesn't really matter much.
Well..its going to be even more EMBARRISSING when her ranking is so l ow that she HAS to play ITFs..there won't be a choice..well..the choice will be either play ITFs or retire and work for mommy at the newspaper company  :tape:

She can always play qualies of main tour tournements. She won't have much trouble getting WC's (or entering directly). I really doubt we're going to see her in the ITF circuit anytime soon.
There is a point where the WCs will stop and her ranking will be too low even for the Qualies if this keeps up...seriously...when was the last time she won a match and how far did she get in Memphis last year..i think pretty far which would explain her ranking... ????

her mom is the wall that's not letting her move forward with her her game, and its a shame cause she has a big serve and big strokes and she needs to get all those together

Alexandra's ranking will plummet after her Semifinal points (should have been finalist points) fall off from Scottsdale.

As for Laura Granville, she is no push on the grass. She really seems to like the grass courts, reaching the third and fourth round of Wimbledon the past two years, losing to Serena and Mauresmo.

She doesn't play ITF's because she feels like she does not need to. And why should she when she's going to get WC's into a Tier II event like Paris

My take on it though is that much like the other rags to riches to rags story at Wimby that year, Mirjana Lucic, she thinks she is above playing challengers. Too good for it. She can play Main draw events at the Tier III and below with that ranking, she'll get WC's into most main draws in America at the Tier I and II level, she'll get a WC into Wimby like in 2001, she doesn't play the clay season...so basically she is set.

I don't get her though. How do you go from #14 to #90 in a year when you don't even have the excuse of being injured?!
