From the WTA article- Indian Wells Preview.
"As one of only five women to ever capture the Pacific Life Open more than once, Lindsay Davenport will return to the California desert in search of that elusive third title. Martina Navratilova, Steffi Graf, Mary Joe Fernandez, Serena Williams and Davenport have all won the tournament twice, but no player has ever been able to grab the title of three-time champion.
Davenport has been close to another title on two separate occasions. As the defending 1997 champion, she almost won back-to-back titles in 1998 before losing to Martina Hingis in the final. She avenged that loss to Hingis two years later by defeating the Swiss player for the 2000 title and almost captured title No.3 last year before falling to Clijsters in the final. "
Come on Lindsay, you have been in 2 finals already and 2 championships, this tournament is really yours and pls take it!!!!!!!
win Indianwells for the Tower of Power Clan Annviersary!

“It was getting really frustrating, so many little things kept holding me back,” said Davenport about her injuries. “At the US Open I was getting injected every day, so mentally I was thinking: ‘What am I doing.’ But ever since I had the surgery in October, I feel great. I wish I’d have done it earlier in the year, but it’s really since the end of November, I’ve really enjoyed waking up, going to practice early, working out, it’s been great. I really feel a lot more excited this year and that I’m on the way back so to speak.”
Looking forward to another stint at the Pacific Life Open, where she has a 32-8 record overall, Davenport added: “If you’ve grown up in Southern California, you realize what a big deal this tournament is to people who make this a destination event.”
Did you guys hear this interview from Lindsay?? OMG!!!! This is like a real comeback for lindsay now, She is enjoying playing again as much as her prime. I really feel good about this year 2004 for Lindsay, I think she will be giving her best shot now with no injuries to worry at all. OMG She is practicing really hard and enjoying it.

Loved the interview. So pleased to hear her say that she is more excited this year. I have her matches on tape from Tokyo and I thought she was striking the ball very well and to really excellent depth. We could be in for a good year guys!!:D
Congrats to Linds and Corina for winning their first round doubles.

Mar 14th, 2004, 10:17 AM
WOW, a double Bagel.... didn't expect that after Santangelo's (that right??) Aussie Open performance!!! Lindsay now plays another up and comer Australian 19yr old Samanth Stosur!!! Last year at Wimbledon they played a great match (got it on tape), and i just watched that match again and it was a very powerful game, Lindsay being the victor 7-6 7-5!!!! Stosur is in red hot form with a SF at Gold Coast, beating Sprem, Shaughnessy and Serna! I think Stosur is going to give Lindsay some REAL trouble.... but LIndsay with the experience will prob win in two tight sets!
Mar 14th, 2004, 12:27 PM
Good Luck Lindsay tonight vs Stosur. We'll get to see her on Eurosport!

Mar 14th, 2004, 09:39 PM
I'm really believing that Lindsay Killer instinct is back!!!!
I cant believed she return that well against a serve speed averaging to 110mph.
She really serve well to, she did'nt even face a breakpoint on her serve.
Mar 14th, 2004, 10:16 PM
Lindsay played quite well but Stosur was a poor thing. I didnt see any improvement in Lindsay's movement though. I expected her to be fitter and faster but maybe it's just too early and we must give Todd Norman time to make the miracle and transform our Lindsay in a Speedy-Gonzalez! ;) :p
Gossip: Jon was there along with Lindsay's mom and Adam :)
Big day for Lindsay. Singles against Dulko and then doubles with Corina! Good luck! :bounce:
Mar 18th, 2004, 01:14 AM
Nice win for Lindsay in singles against Dulko 6-3, 6-2. Then for Lindsay/Corina against Nadia/Megan 7-5, 5-7, 6-1. They flew through the 3rd set! I think they should be playing Ruano Pascual and Suarez next...what do we think about that one?
Mar 18th, 2004, 01:48 AM
Congrats Lindsay! NOw get some rest on your spare day!!!

Davenport Passes Dulko Test
Two-time champion Lindsay Davenport advanced to the semifinals of the Pacific Life Open with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Argentine qualifier Gisela Dulko. Davenport, who won the title in 1997 and 2000 as well as reaching the finals in 1998 and 2003, is attempting to win her 40th career WTA Tour title and 10th Tier I event this week.
The 27-year-old American, who arrived in Indian Wells having captured the championship trophy in Tokyo on her last WTA Tour outing in February, is now 14-1 so far this year.
The World No. 4, who is making her 11th appearance in Indian Wells this year, was delighted to have come through a tough test against the rising Argentine and keep her hopes of a third Indian Wells title alive.
“It's getting closer and closer,” said Davenport, who served five aces against Dulko. “I've been looking forward to this tournament since I was off about four or five weeks ago. I’m just really happy with where I'm at. I've played well the whole tournament through. I've done what's so far been expected of me. I have another big match on Friday to try to get to that final that I've been hoping for.”
Davenport will now meet French star Nathalie Dechy, the No. 19 seed who defeated Columbia’s Fabiola Zuluaga to reach the semifinals for the first time. The 19-year-old World No. 28, who reached the semifinals at Gold Coast earlier this year, took 1 hour, 49 minutes to come through 7-6(1), 6-3 against the Australian Open semifinalist.
