I believe the same thing. So many good/better ranked players retired in that period and I don't see the people who replaced them as the same in quality.

:rolleyes: The level is better now then it was in 2000!!I don't agree; Hingis, Graf, Sanchez, Spirlea, Testud, Seles, Kournikova stopt playing or dropped because of injury.
Coetzer, Schnyder, Martinez all dropped in the ranks.

And I only see Henin, Clijsters, Myskina and Dementieva replacing them, the rest is beatable by the Van Roost of some years ago. Even with the tennis that is more based on power and athleticism I believe the average level of the top-20 has dropped (I don't say Dominique would play at her old level).

the level in 2000 was a LOT better that's for sure ;)
