Yeah Venus is only one behind Henin in tourns played. Very surprising. She's played more than Martina, and if you count next week........Venus, that signal's coming in loud and clear! :D

Kim's 2/2 with semifinals this year, which is keeping her up there nicely while she's forced out of action. So we'll expect her to return in a couple of weeks' time?

Yea, Venus has the same record as Martina but is so far behind. Why? She's playing crappy Tier III tournaments to add to her totals. Martina has been beating players like Seles, Shaughnessy, Clijsters, etc. Venus has beaten Mauresmo and Henin. Easy stuff.

Anyway, go Martina! Easily the best so far this year.

RockSteady, just hold it in check for a moment there.

1) Venus plays who she draws
2) Henin (or Mauresmo for that matter) with one arm amputated is a classier opponent than Shaughnessy, with kindness.

Venus is doing this year, what everybody absolutely berated her for NOT doing last year: Playing.

There are only gonna be so many Tier I and II events in the calendar. So Venus is sending out that she wants to be #1. That's a bad thing now?

Well maybe you should send a letter to WTA and ask for a Tier I every week!!! Venus plays what's out-there! It's not her fault if after Tokyo, there's only Tiers II and III !!!! And besides, only gold coast was a Tier III! Paris, Antwer and Dubai are all Tiers II !!!!!! What matters is that she's playing and winning ...... Venus'haters will never be satisfied with anything she does anyways....::fiery:

Hmm...I'd watch what you say. While Shaughnessy hasn't had a blockbuster start of this year (she has been out with injury since the Aus Open), last year she beat VENUS (which Mauresmo hasn't), Seles (which Henin hasn't), and Clijsters. Once Meghann returns, (hopefully) she'll make you eat your words!

Excuse me here... Venus' draws at Antwerp and Paris are actually strogner than Martina's at Toray Pan Pacific.

Venus drew Henin, Dokic and Mauresmo, all ranked higher than Monica! And who did Hingis play at the adidas finals?

What's the big deal about Venus playing Tier IIIs anyway? She only played 1! Didn't Martina play one last year as well?

And you guys are always saying: Let's see if Venus can maintain her results playing 17 tournaments a year.

Well, Venus is trying to do just that! And you are getting scared off your pants by what she is doing. Playing 17 tournaments a year AND maintaining her results. Ha.... be careful what you wished for next time. :p

maximus: That comment was all about taking a ridiculous comment (a la the one from RockSteady) and countering it with something even more ridiculous.

Both Amelie and Justine are classier than Meghann, and though Meghann has beaten Venus, I think it's churlish of RockSteady to suggest she's somehow of superior class to Mauresmo or Justine - GS finalists both.
