Mauresmo is suffering from an injury (dechirure intercostale (french)... I don't know the exact translation: tear from the muscles between the ribs).

Commentators on french eurosport said the chances were small she would be able to play.

Can someone confirm this?

Official site from Amelie:
Australie: Mauresmo blessée
Amélie Mauresmo pourrait déclarer forfait pour le quart de finale qui doit l'opposer à Zuluaga. La numéro un française s'est blessée à l'entraînement et souffre d'une déchirure intercostale. La Française prendra une décision après le réveil mais la tendance n'est pas à l'optimisme.

Sam L. Read my post. That item is one day old. It's Monday here already,
Monday night in Australia. She would've tested it out already earlier today.
The schedule has her match as the first QF on Rod Laver. They didn't
delay the release of the schedule. I think she'll play.

It's monday night 22:17pm in Australia. The match with AM was played
yesterday Sunday at 11 am. See the problem with the news coming out
of Australia to Europe is the time difference.

One post said it happened during the Molik match?

Now I'm really confused?

the original news said it happened during training. See my post from the official site. "La numéro un française s'est blessée à l'entraînement " ...so during training, not the match

from Eurosport:

Injury could stop Amélie

Fourth seed Amélie Mauresmo is reportedly "highly uncertain" for her Australian Open quarter-final clash Tuesday with Fabiola Zuluaga. The Frenchwoman tore a rib-cage muscle in her win on Sunday over Australia's Alicia Molik and did not train Monday because of the intense pain.

A scan revealed the tear after she hurt her back in the match against Molik.

With her quarter-final scheduled for 11:00am local time, Mauresmo will attempt one last time to train on the morning of the match.

Such a bad luck!

Oh. Such incredible bad luck! Zuluaga gets a gift into the semi finals,
and LD vs JHH has thus turned into a semi final because whoever wins
this will beat Zuluaga, right?

Well, since the men's seeds seem to be holding up well this year, why not have a suprsise finalist like Clement,Schuettler on the women's side this year:lol:
(Then to have the Clijsters beating her;) )

It couldnt be that bad. She played great tennis at the end of the Molik match, so obviously it didnt hamper her that much. I think she'll still play.

Yes, she was rubbing her side from early on in her match against Alicia.

How much more bad luck can one person have.....?. Poor Amélie, she must be devastated.

Initially I didn't believe this thread coz I thought it was one of those scare rumours. In her interview on court after molik she said someting was bothering and hoped it would settle before the qfs. This girl has had some tough times, she needs a break.

Unfortunately, the story is true. It is on AOL also.

I hope she can play, but there is no need to injure yourself even worse for one Grand Slam.

She had problems already in the begginning of the Molik match! But she won, so I expect her to be on court today!

Loic Courteau (Amelie's coach) said that they are large chances she wont play.He says that there is no chance she'll play if test are negative cuz he doesn't want that it aggrevates and jeopordises her season. But they will not take a decision untill after the tests.
