Lindsay/Corina must fancy their chances to win the AUS-Open, so do I. Last year fancied Lindsay/Raymond to win the Aus-Open, unfortunately it didn't turn out that way.

Is this true? :haha: :haha:

What happaned? Did LD crank up the aces in Lisa's direction?

What happened to the book entitled....?

That's a quite an amusing result.

Maybe Martina N and Lisa aren't safe bets for the Olympics after all.

This is not entirely unexpected. Raymond had nothing left after the win against Venus.

I don't think Martina think they are. She said that thier participation is contingent on whether the Williams sisters decide to play.

I didn't know that.

I always thought her prime aim for this year was to participate in the Olympics and Lisa Raymond is her ticket in.

Still, she is right now - if Williams sisters decide to play, judging by this result, Lindsay and Corina would have a case to be the second team.

A bit hard on Lisa though - she'd miss out again .

I hope Lindsay wins the doubles title at last. She's lost what, 4 finals already (at least in '96 against Arantxa & Chanda, in '98 against Hingis & Lucic, in '99 against Hingis & Kournikova and in '01 against Williams & Williams).

maybe Lisa tanked the match so she could concentrate on singles

after all, she has great opportunities to get to SF

Good for Lisa and Martina. I can't stand everytime I see Martina it is like she's plotting against one of the top players for her respective doubles partner. Martina needs to distance herself from her partner and not make it look like she is plotting against a top player and let her partner's coach figure it out. Martina needs to get a life!!! Great match from Davenport and Morariu though!!

Navratilova/Raymond combination is never going to be a great team. They do not complement each other's strengthes.

I agree with ys... I kept saying since Martina came back to the tour and changed 3000 doubles partners... she needs a girl who hits hard, smashes a ball... Sveta was that girl (although a little more experience would help). I just wish Sveta got a little more credit last year. ;)

They are together only because Martina wants to quaifly for the Olympics.

They are together only because Martina wants to quaifly for the Olympics. Why didn't Martina pick someone who complement her game better? Like Rubin. Or Shaughnessy.

If Williams sisters decide to play Olympics, they ( Martina/Lisa ) most likely won't make it to the team. It's out of their hands.

I want them to get this so bad. They have both been playing really well..I don't think Lisa tanked it for singles because she was just talking about doubles in her interview...and she hay have been tired, but it wasn't 1 against 2...she had Martina...and Martina carries her own weight, she's won quite a few titles since she came back again.

Anyway..good luck Corina/Lindsay...take this thing!
