When they were interviewing her she was laughing as much as to say you win some and you lose some. She was not crying. What is the matter with you people. Lisa was the better player today.

Everyone knows why she lost: insufficient match play. Lisa played very well too. That's just a lesson she'll have to learn, and hopefully, she'll play more tournaments this year :D

Worse than her tears are those things hanging from her vanquished lobes. Are they earrings, or the bacterial by-product of grief?

I thought that after the first set, everything would be okay for Venus. The way Lisa that was struggling to close out the set and the fight and spirit that Venus was showing, I thought Venus would have a tight second set and a fairly third. Venus had a lot of oppurtunities in the match to win it. (Ex. serving 40-15 at 2-4 1st set, having 0-30 at 2-3 and 4-5 in the 1st set, having 40-15 on her opening service game of the 2nd set, and finally the 4-3, 5-4, 6-5;didn't put pressure on Raymond's service game in those games, and 4-4 points in the tiebreak; didn't play aggressive, missed that return by 10 feet at 5-4 in the tiebreak, and shouldn't have gone for such an ambititious forehand after getting a good first serve in down match point). This is the six month lay-off that is showing its ugly head. Heck, I would be crying too if I was an elite player and wanted this Austrailian soo bad knowing that I had numerous oppurtuinties to turn this match around!! I'm a Venus fan, but I think this might be starting the end of her domiance and her ability to win big tounamants and big matches.

Why kick her when she's down? She was, indeed, crying.

I don't think Venus was crying, more like adjusting her contacts.

That was a lack of match play if I've ever seen it. There were flashes of brilliance, of the Venus we know and love but just not enough of her.

positive note in her interview.
she said she will continue to practice and get ready for tokyo.
she is not going to run home.

yea um k... do u wear contacts? adjustine them in the middle of an interview, is not something that players or anyone does.

why do some people have a hard time aknowledging that a player is shedding a little tear?

adjusting her contacts, gimme a break. shes sad she lost...she has only the highest expectations of herself and she wasn't where she needed to be today. for her, that's a reason for a tear.

I've never cried after a match...but I did today. It just seems whenever I get my hopes up with my girl, they are quickly dashed. I love her so...I go in a state of depression whenever she loses

Please recover Venus...the sport of tennis needs you...at the top!

Guys Look On The Brite Side, Ms Venus Served 14 Aces And 7 Dfs, So She Did Go For Placement Sometimes, Not Only Power... (havent Watched The Match) And Hey From What I Hear, Her Second Serve Seems To Be Better...

I don't think she was crying in that picture. Rather, those droplets were sweat, and that picture must have been taken when Venus committed one of many UE's during the match. Its more of a "worried" face.
