... was one of the main factors for her loss today.

First of all the 7 DF's. Okay, that was only a problem at the beginning of the match. She made four of them in her first two service games. But this helped Lisa to get 2 breaks up, gain confidence and eventually take the first set.

But worse is that the technique hasn't changed at all. Lisa KNEW that in 9 out of 10 cases Venus' 2nd serve would be a slice on her forehand, and she took advantage of that by hitting direct return winners or putting Venus under much pressure. That's why Venus only won 38% of 2nd serve points.

To Lisa's credit: She also returned Venus' 1st serves very well. Venus only won 60% of points with it despite 14 aces. That's even more amazing.

i think it's better than it was. still no where near matching the rest of her game though

And the rest of her game isn't matching her 1st serve. We all know what happens when it doesn't drop in :unsure:

Venus' second serve will always be just as bad as it has always been ..........Venus can lose matches too , accept that and move on .......No need to go fishing for excuses ......:rolleyes:
