AZZA, I know that you were cheering for Maria until last summer/fall, and now you are hating her so much. What happened that you changed your mind so completely? I really like to know!

Anyways, good luck, Maria!! :bounce:

Or, it could be that Myskina is the better player... and Masha has never defeated a Top 10 player.

So sad for Maria to be injured, she had a great chance here.

I am rooting for Maria because of all the Russians, she is the only one who has a legitimate chance of ever winning a Slam.

The hype machine works...

Hype has nothing to do with it. She will turn 17 this year and already has two WTA titles. What other Russian, other than Dinara Safina, that entered the AO this year won titles at such a young age and has challenged top players like Justine and Venus?

In this tournament, Maria would have to beat Myskina, Rubin, Kim, Venus, and Justine, to win.
So there's no reason for her to risk serious injury if she's not 100% healthy.

Does anyone know if Myskina is still training with Robert at all ...in an article on the aus website she said, we used to practice together...referring to Maria...

Wells said, Liz. :D

BK4ever, I read that article, too. I don't think Myskina trains in Los Angeles anymore. And from what she's said about Maria she likes her and thinks highly about her.

I just hope Masha can run normally tonight. Otherwise she'll just blast away and make alot of unforced errors. :(

She hasn't? What ranking are Mauresmo and Dementieva then?

GO MASHA!

I hope Myskina wins and I suspect she will. She seems to get pretty geared up for the matches against her fellow Russians.

I know already... the whole argument that Maria will be great is because she's 16.

She hasn't? What ranking are Mauresmo and Dementieva then?

GO MASHA!

When did she beat Mauresmo? Some exhibition? I've already been told a million times by Williams' fans that exhibitions don't count.

Dementieva was not Top 10 when Maria beat her in Birmingham, plus that's Elena on her worst surface, struggling with an injury where she also lost convincingly to Loit and Sanchez Lorenzo.

I hope so too.

This match is a case of the underrated versus the overrated. Hopefully, Nastya won't get nervous and will show these clowns that she is the top player here, not Maria.

Or.......she could lose miserably, leading to 100s of angry Sharapova fans cussing me out after the match :D

Yep...but she ain´t winning this one though. Beating Myskina, Kim, Venus AND Justine/Lindsay/Amelie in a row?! Nope....
