Is he being outplayed or tempermental?

His draw is impossible. He has to beat Martin, Blake, Roddick, and Agassi, to make the final.

I don't see Blake as being a problem for him. Anyways...

Todd has this irritating way of working his way back into matches he lost HOURS ago and winning matches he was supposed to lose, YEARS after he was supposed to retire ;)

This isn't that big of a surprise, really.

Marat's a nutcase.

He's just coming back. He's not ready for this kind of draw.

Mase
Jan 23rd, 2004, 02:24 AM
Its not like Todd doesnt have game. He has a decent serve and good enough chip and charge play to irratate even the best players....

Keep it going Todd!!!! :bounce:

Marat broke to start the 4th.

You don't want to get Todd in the 5th set though... he seems to always win.

goldenlox
Jan 23rd, 2004, 02:30 AM
Martin's one of the great fighters. Marat will have to play a huge match to win this.

nothing wrong with Marat, just lack of matches and a pathetic 1st serve % won
Marats 3-0 in 4th :)

This is a huge surprise he is still in.

WTF! Of course it's not surprising that a former #1 and grandslam champ is in the 3rd round of a the Oz Open!

5-0 now. I want to see Marat-Blake, and Marat-Roddick, so I hope Martin feels his age.

Mase

I hate to say this but maybe Todd's actually getting a little tired here... I mean I say 'I hate to say it,' consdiering Todd's the comeback king. I guess we'll see what happens in the 5th...

Which is a glorified exhibition.

In a Grand Slam, if Marat has a few matches under his belt, I don't believe that Blake would be a problem for him. And I don't like either any more than the other, so I'm certainly not picking the one that I like more.

As it is, Marat might not even make it out of this match.

Exactly.

I just about shat myself when he almost came back from 0-2 sets down against Ferrero at the USO despite looking like a wet dog half of the match, for this exact reason ;)

Right now there are 4 really good matches going on. 2 men's, plus Molik's, and Aniko's, and no tennis on tv.
And this is a major.

The positive about this is that Agassi's match is going to start quite late. It's not going to begin until at least 12:30 am here on the East coast, and I'll be sleeping then. :)

You got to prove it pa...this is an ITF event, and you Blake leads the series 1-0. Until he can beat Blake then we have something to go on, as for now...Blake can beat Marat.

YES!!!

If Marat really did work on his fitness, this is the sort of match that'll bolster his play rather than fatigue. He'll need the belief that he can win with his B+ game to work his way through that draw.

I actually believe he can do it. Blake: the win could even be comfortable. Roddick: has he developed a return yet? does he have one off the backhand? Andre: supertough but possible.

It involved an American, and it's over, so ESPN might show some of it.
But it was a close match, so they'll probably ignore it.

Keith17
Jan 23rd, 2004, 03:44 AM
Hopefully Sveta can give Justine a tough match... so we're not subjected to "All Agassi, All the time".

Keith17
Jan 23rd, 2004, 03:46 AM
Crap... Ginepri just started.

There's another option for ESPN to piss us off.

Hopefully, Escude has one of his good days.

goldenlox
Jan 23rd, 2004, 03:47 AM
I don't think ESPN will show Sveta-Justine. Too many men's matches today.

Keith17
Jan 23rd, 2004, 03:49 AM
I know there's no chance we'll see Justine/Sveta... we might get a few games if they need to fill time before Agassi starts.

I felt really bad when did that cardboard cutout with Serena... and then the idiot announcers tried to pass it off as funny.

Why the hell do they still have Fowler doing Aussie Open anyway? He serves no purpose. Let him do crap with college basketball.

Keith17
Jan 23rd, 2004, 03:56 AM
P-Mac also says Andre will win in 3 quick sets, despite Enqvist having the better record.

He's an "expert" on the American players, so how can he ever be wrong? :)
